I've been a Bruce fan since I first saw Maiden up here in Chicago in '83! I'd like to start off by saying I was disappointed when I found out that Bruce was back in Maiden. He had a great thing going with his solo career and the sheer strength of The Chemical Wedding, BTW, one of THE best and heaviest albums of all time! It's time for Bruce to end this fiasco and get back together with Roy and start kickin' some ass again. If they can put together an album with cuts as muscular as Broken and Silver Wings, I'd be a happy camper. IMO, he was invigorated when he rejoined IM, but I consider DOD to be a rather weak outing, and that Bruce has plenty of metal left in him to make far superior albums. Not to mention, his voice sounds as great as ever, saw him live up here last August, THE POWER and THE RANGE...LONG LIVE BRUCE!

Bruce's solo stuff rules, especially Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding. Some of the best non-Maiden metal out there. Him and Roy (and H!) I hope put more out soon!

Bruce being back in Iron Maiden saved both his career and Maiden's careers. I think he loved his solo career, I really do. But he was feeling the same drain on it Steve was around Fear of the Dark...the strain of writing 10 or so songs an album and having all your creative energies drained. He's got some wicked songs now with IM, stuff like Montségur, which is an amazing hard rocker tune. I think when he goes back into his solo stuff he'll put out a huge album.

If you want to like Bruce better than Maiden, fine...but remember that what Bruce does on his own and what he does with Maiden are completely different things. Bruce's songs have never reached me as deep as Iron Maiden's songs. I think his songwriting has been consistently better for Iron Maiden as well. Songs like Revelations, Powerslave, Bring Your Daughter, and Journeyman are frankly some of the best songs ever done by any band. Journeyman especially, how can you say Dance of Death is bad with a song like this on it? It sounds like Bruce solo songs, it reminded me of Tears of the Dragon the first time I heard it. But it has the unique sound of Maiden, and the powerful lyrical vibe that you can only get off an Eddie-faced album.

The late 1990s had some amazing albums all around...especially Bruce ones, the Chemical Wedding I think trounced Virtual XI (except for The Clansman, best song off anything either did in that time) and I'd love to see some more solo stuff...but if you can't appreciate DOD...what makes you think a Bruce album is gonna sound anything different? The people we work with influence us.

Meh, say what you will, Bruce wrote some pretty epic stuff on his own. Tears, Arc, and Jerusalem wipe the floor with Journeyman. Dance is a complete flop, how can you even dare compare Journeyman to the excellent Tears Of A Dragon, or even the aforementioned songs. Bruce will rise again and simply crush Maiden again. Whatever he puts out next will simply crush DOD or BNW easily. Harris' ego is just too huge, I'm a metal fan first, this prog-rock crap has gotta go.

I personally think Bruce made some very very good solo albums which blow virtually anything post-Seventh Son away.

Songs like The Alchemist, Omega, Arc Of Space, Jerusalem, Chemical Wedding, Tears Of The Dragon, Inertia, Gates Of Urizen and Welcome To The Pit touched me in a way that almost all Maiden tracks never did (with exceptions obviously) mostly because I got really into it during significant times of my life and it pulled me through and made me happy again.

And also I find the song writing a lot more fresh and original on Bruce's solo albums than a lot of the Maiden stuff. I've been waiting a long time for a sequel to Chemical Wedding and/or Skunkworks for ages now. Bruce needs to make another solo album very soon. I don't care if it's a demo recorded in a garage in West London, I'll buy it!

Dickinson has always been a better songwriter than Harris. And yes, I'd rather have a new Bruce Dickinson album coming out than a new Maiden album.

Steve writes very very good...but Bruce has always been amazing. Good, better, best! Powerslave, still my favourite Maiden song! And if Bruce does another solo album...well, I'll be happy. But I want to hear Maiden more.

I like the stuff Bruce's band play and I think he is a very good songwriter, he's one of the best Singer/songwriter in the whole world of heavy metal [!--emo&--]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--] [!--emo&--]/bowdown.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'bowdown.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

great [!--emo&--]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

lots of bruce fans around [!--emo&:nana:--]/lambada.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'lambada.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Lots of people that prefer Brucey over Maiden. In my opinion it's a bit sad to find that, but who cares. Name some songs made by Bruce on his soloing stuf. I like The Road To Hell, maybe because it sounds like maiden. Steve wons the writing competition in my opinion. He has written the trooper ya know... and Alexander the great, fear of the dark, aces high and so on. I think perhaps Bruce will write another solo album (and I for one, am looking forward to it) but I don't think bruce will leave maiden again. I think the band have matured now, and they won't see it as bruce trying to wrong the band.

really though, if bruce actually left maiden, or any other significant line-up change, can anyone here say with hand on heart, that maiden will survive. I don't think they could go on.

anyway, enough of my rubbish...

taffy

I think that if you don't like Maiden for what they are now, Get the **** out of here!!! [!--emo&:cussing:--]/cussing[1].gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'cussing[1].gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I think Dance of Death is a wonderful album, I love Maiden the way they are now. I think many people would agree that Bruce is meant to be in the band, not Blaze or anyone else. X Factor one of the best Maiden albums? I disagree.

I hang out in my Bruce forum mostly, but I'll be in here every now and then to harass you boys.

You're not just a little strange...

Bruce will crush Maiden again? I especially noticed you said "again". Did he actually crush Maiden in the first place. The answer is no and you know it yourself. After Bruce's departure Maiden immediately released one of their very best albums ever (The X Factor)!

And what's actually your critisism against Dance of Death? Ok, there's some songs there I'm not too keen to (I won't say which), but as a whole it's an excellent album, comprising some of the best Maiden sounds ever.

So, shut it.
Ah, I see, you're just a Maiden fanboy. The Blaze albums totally suck ass, and you did hear me right...PROG-ROCK. Obviously, Harry has some sort of infatuation with long, drawn-out acoustic bass intros, repetitive choruses, meandering guitar solos, etc. Bruce DID however OWN IM completely with his last two solo efforts. They simply crush ANYTHING after 7th Son. Dance is just complete utter rubbish. Need I say more? Now, shut your pie hole...and BTW, yes, I'm a little more than strange [!--emo&--]/unsure.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'unsure.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
Please don't insult prog rock. Most real prog rock is actually inspired and good. For the rest I mostly I agree with you though.

Bruce is THE Singer!!
The Chemical is actually my favourite record (yes maiden albums included) and i would just love to see another solo album of his.
But I still thinks he fits better in to Maiden and I was more than pleased when I heard that he was coming back to them!

UP THE BRUCE'S!!!! or something like that [!--emo&B)--]/cool.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'cool.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

On Maidenfans? Ofcourse. Dance of Death is fucking brilliant album. What comes to x-factor, it ain't so bad. It works when your'e alone in your room, just before you go to sleep. Bruce is a great singer and songwriter, did great solo stuff and is happy now being back in Maiden. What i see is that you are just a cocky Bruce fan, that is really pissed off, because that Bruce did his comeback to Maiden.

Yes, and very soon go back to doing another solo project. I'm a Bruce fanboy, and I'm sure whatever The Man does will be head and shoulders above DOD, not to worry. Hell, Skunkworks may even be a tad better than DUD.

You have a real problem, you don't seem to be able to fathom that it's sort of stupid just to bash albums, without giving reasons why you don't like them. If you don't like Maiden, then why are you here?
