First time properly listening to the 50th anniversary remixed and remastered version of Rocka Rolla. I’m surprised - I actually quite enjoy it. Production matters!
The album, in places, feels a bit Black Sabbath-like, and while listening to “Run of the Mill,” I can hear echoes of Deep Purple’s “Child in Time.”

Terrific album!
With an impressive young Al DiMeola!
It's a musthave for fusion and prog fans, might give this one a spin tonight. I´m in a Crusaders mood lately.

Something completely different. Listenable and interesting.

I listened to it, and I heard… things.
2. “London Leatherboys” - riff-wise, I hear Judas Priest’s “Killing Machine” - especially that “I’ve got a contract on you…” feel.
3. “Fight It Back” - the main riff reminds me of Priest’s “Rapid Fire.”
4. “Head Over Heels” - I can’t quite make out what he’s singing in the chorus. “Spurting in the dark”- ok, I hear that part. But I don’t think he’s actually singing “head over heels”; it sounds more like “get away”, or something similar.
5. “Losing More Than You've Ever Had” - can’t fully pin it down, but the song starts in a very Priest-like way. The overall rhythm feels similar to “You've Got Another Thing Comin'.” After the break, it becomes even more noticeable - very much in that vein.
6. “Love Child” - guitar-wise, maybe a variation on Priest’s “Running Wild”?
8. “Losers and Winners” - the beginning instantly reminds me of Priest’s “Steeler.”
9. “Guardian of the Night” - around the break, I clearly hear strong echoes of “Heading Out to the Highway.”

No studio version? Straight from the Gamma Ray's textbook. The chorus work really well. The band makes very good power metal, their music with Tailgunner's vocalist Craig is also worthy of praise, classic power metal writing.
