NOW PLAYING

Just my two cents. I tried getting into Operation: Mindcrime a while ago - no luck. Listening to it again now… still not my cup of tea. I don’t really like Geoff Tate’s vocal timbre. And for me, music comes first, lyrics second - and the music just isn’t impressive enough to make me want to dig deeper.

I’d take this W.A.S.P. album over Operation: Mindcrime any day of the week.

Damn man! Maybe you're more a coffee guy?

Damn man! I guess he has a distinctive voice which isn´t for everybody. @MrK isn´t a fan either.

Damn man! Hey wait...we seem to agree here.

Damn man! If you don´t like O:M music wise I guess Ryche isn´t your type of band.

I just bought the 2013 CD version of Seasons in the Abyss. Absolutely slamming album.

But from what I’ve seen on google, the 2013 version is often described as a loud remaster—more focused on volume than dynamic range, similar to other American Recordings reissues from that period. It does benefit from a clearer, more modern sound where individual instruments stand out more, but it’s also criticized by audiophiles for losing some of the punchy, “breathing” dynamics of the original 1990 pressings.

Fuck! Still… it slams. I guess it’s fine.
Saw this tour 2x; amazing lp!

NP:
Metal Church - Metal Church

Saw the original tour when they opened for Metallica on And Justice For All tour (met the band at Sound Warehouse morning of the show; asked Chris & Michael if they could start printing lead guitar credits on the next lp and they said "Sure" ...but they didn't!

Then saw the next tour (Empire) when they played all of Mindcrime!

Last year saw Geoff play all of Mindcrime.

NP:
Sanctuary - Taste Revenge

I drink coffee very, very rarely, ha. You’re right - Queensrÿche just isn’t my kind of band.

I just received the 2019 Japanese CD versions of several Judas Priest albums. They were a bit pricier in my local e-store, but Google convinced me that, sound-wise, these editions are really good - so I went for it. On the way home, I even joked to myself that I’d have to learn Japanese to read the lyrics, ha ha. Turns out that’s not even an issue - there are no lyrics included. Thanks for that, Sony Music Entertainment.

Now I’m listening to British Steel - and man, it sounds great. Warm, clear, punchy? and you can even clearly hear the bass. For me, this might be the best-sounding Priest album. In a way, the production even reminds me of Powerslave.

Also, pretty much every song here is good to great (I’m not too keen on “United,” though). And similar to Powerslave, it’s mostly fast-paced. Yeah!

Man, with today’s technology, why don’t more albums sound this good?
Oh, wait - Ghost’s Skeletá actually sounds fantastic, so I guess not everything is lost after all.
