NOW PLAYING

As a young boy chasing dragonettes
With your wooden sword so mighty :innocent:

I sense a bit of Rob Halford channeling from Bruce in this song.

Fans of Dokken what do you think of this record? I think its fine and Reb Beach is one hell of a player!

Their last strong studio album, IMO. Dokken’s voice was completely shot after this one.

Reb Beach and Jeff Pilson made for a great songwriting team, and they reunited most recently in the band Black Swan, which have put out two albums with a third on the way next year. Their second album, Generation Mind, was my personal AOTY for 2022.

Dirkschneider & The Old Gang - Babylon

An enjoyable album and project. Lots of anthemic parts (great and expected) and Mathias Dieth's guitar work is very good and tasty. Some opinions on the songs:
It Takes Two To Tango - really catchy rocker, classic Udo vibe.

Babylon - the ancient vibe in the vocals and melodies is always cool.

Hellbreaker - typical heavy Accept-esque rocker. It works.

Time To Listen - pure UDO, very memorable chorus. A highlight. Solos on point.

Strangers In Paradise - a very nice ballad, Manuela is the star here.

Dead Man's Hand - keys, something different, the overall song works its ideas.

The Law Of A Madman - good song with a cool metal riff, classic verses and anthemic chorus (it works really well). Another pure Udo song. Great solos and melodies. Classic 80s metal.

Metal Sons - typical 80s rocker, the anthemic chorus reminds me of an 90s song by UDO. It's fun. Very good instrumental section.

Propaganda - pure metal, Mathias rules. Melodic vibe. But the chorus could have been stronger.

Blindfold - this is a ballad from his 2020 orchestral project, odd. It's effective.

Batter The Power - now this is an Accept riff. Interesting approach to the verses, the chorus deliver. Cool and needed guitar licks and solo.

Beyond The End Of Time - the longest song at 8 minutes and it's ''Princess Of The Dawn'' 2.0. What to say, it's nice, the chorus idea works.

All in all, considering their style, it's difficult to point out weak or filler songs. Good work.

Loudness - The Sun Will Rise Again (US Mix)
10th anniversary
(saw the tour 1 month later; they played the title track and Mortality,
Thanks to Trump closing the border couple of years later, it was their last US show since!
Thankfully, they will return next year for Hell's Heroes!)
