Helloween - Robot King

I'm kind of rediscovering this mini-epic. It's classic Helloween, yet a bit odd, but the fast and aggressive tempo plus the very melodic pre-chorus (or is it a 2nd chorus?) and the great melodies/harmonies are pure power metal and grabs you. The actual chorus, the solos and the post-instrumental section work for the song. The riffing is cool too.

Btw, I think that just like Skyfall, this one could have been a title track structure-wise and it's ''anthemic'' enough.

First full Devin album I've heard. Always struggled to find one that is heavy without being extreme and features the right balance of harsh and clean vocals for me. I might've found it.

I fully realise Sting must have spent the rest of his goodwill over the last 40 years or so, drenching the world in adult contemporary, Collins-style, and with his obnoxiousness and all the charm of Bono, but without the altruism...

...but The Police were my absolute favourite band for the better part of the secondary school and I still hold a place for them in my heart. Literally one of the most untrivially talented bands I know.

Mr. Big might have boasted an impressive pedigree and admirable chops, at least on paper, but it all amounted to nothing. What a nothing band indeed, they have literally one, I repeat, one good song. What a waste of potential.

I'm generally not a fan of Cher, I like some of her stuff from back in the day, around the Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves album, but most of her output and she herself mostly leave me cold. But man, her and Meat Loaf duetting over your typical Steinman's 50s-pastiche pseudo-teenage melodrama really is a match made in Heaven, they fit together so perfectly it's almost disgusting.

(I could live without her donning the raddled-and-addled, drug-worn 70s dominatrix look, though)

And in the world of suspiciously specific superlatives, here is the best hit song by a Page Three Stunna I know ... by means of being the only hit song by a Page Three Stunna I know.

(it's absolutely ghastly, I don't know why I remembered it... but I can see Forge and Ghost covering it on the next EP, lol)

Today at the dentist's, while being drilled in the chair, I was just as drilled by the absolutely horrid song World Gone Wild by Robin Schulz, Cyril and Sam Martin, which samples its only memorable part from Fatboy Slim's Right Here, Right Now... which samples this somewhat forgotten track

Needless to say, I'd rather have the original than the derivatives.

Think of how we'd lay down together
We'd be listening to the radio so loud and so strong
Every golden nugget coming like a gift of the gods
Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs

Jim Steinman, may he rest in peace, was both a complete idiot and utterly brilliant. I mean, he was 100% cringe and 100% awesome. I really don't know anyone else like that or at least I can't be bothered to remember at this time of the night.

The song for when your significant other is farting under the blanket

Don't pretend you're sorry
I know you're not
You know you've got the power
To make me weak inside

Girl, you leave me breathless
But it's okay
'Cause you are my survival
Now hear me say
...
'Cause every time I breathe, I take you in
And my heart beats again
Baby, I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love

Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby, I can't help it
You keep me drownin' in your love
