Chick Corea was one of my introductions to jazz and the original Return to Forever album has been my absolutely favourite jazz album for several years... now that I think of it, maybe up to this day. Not the only one (there are Sketches of Spain, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, Armstrong's Hot recordings etc.), but a very significant album for me nonetheless.
Always had a soft spot for Latin fusion, I admit.

Perhaps you might like this then. Chick Corea's Return To Forever is an obvious reference. Just as playful but more immediate, atmospheric and centered around melody, and also I guess less proggy. But if you need a piece of intergalactic jazz fusion paired with brazilian music, try this!

That original title track “Return To Forever” is so spooky in parts (mainly when she sings), and that scream later on...
Beautiful record. Second album is great as well.
