You´re in for a treat. :)
Mindcrime should be listened to as a whole IMO because of the nicely build up climax of the songs. Not to mention the story line too...
You can´t go wrong with any of their albums from the debut until Promised Land. LaTorre era is very good too.

I really like Tribe too.

Hear In The Now Frontier album is a cool testament of the time, with the Queensryche-style grunge. At least half the songs were sub par, but the intent was cool.

I totally hear you, that's how I felt about them as well. But I think the vocals on The Sound of Perseverance are a lot more noticeably that, I actually never minded the ones on Symbolic
