NOW PLAYING

This studio version (2000) has what I missed in the live clip. A solo over that catchy chord scheme. And way more of that awesome chorus:

See the wizard fly !

See the Sun over the rainbow
And the rain comes falling down
Holy nights, the spirit of the temple
They appeared to take the crown
Evil shadows were passing through the air
No one knows if he is there
The bell strikes midnight, the mist begins to rise
The master's calling your name
Soul to soul, the last light of eternity
Lost fools for the game
Winged assassin with power and his grace
The evil force arisen from the grave

It's the Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
There is no tomorrow
On the other side
The Masquerade Ball
Climb up to the stars
Through the winds of wonder
The evil's in despair
The Masquerade Ball

Dark shadows of the Moon
The Sun had turned to black
Evil eyes are ready to attack
Dust to dust, the mist was fading
The earls have just arrived
Who ever knows who will survive
Get away from the demon dance
And lock on the doors
No place for the holy this midnight romance
No prayers on the floor
It's the Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
There is no tomorrow
On the other side
The Masquerade Ball
Climb up to the stars
Through the winds of wonder
The evil's in despair
The Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
There is no tomorrow
On the other side
The Masquerade Ball
The Masquerade Ball
Yeah
The Masquerade Ball
It's the Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
There is no tomorrow
On the other side
The Masquerade Ball
Climb up to the stars
Through the winds of wonder
The evil's in despair
On and on they sailed away
With fire in their eyes
The burning heat began to rise
Eye to eye with broken chains
They left the house of black
Escaping from final attack
Get away from the demon dance
And lock on the doors
No place for the holy this midnight romance
No prayers on the floor
It's the Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
There is no tomorrow
On the other side
The Masquerade Ball
Climb up to the stars
Through the winds of wonder
The evil's in despair
The Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
There is no tomorrow
On the other side
The Masquerade Ball
Climb up to the stars
Through the winds of wonder
The evil's in despair
The Masquerade Ball
See the wizard fly
The Masquerade Ball
Yeah
See'em fly
Evil's in despair
The Masquerade Ball
On and on they sailed away
With fire in their eyes
The burning heat began to rise
On and on they climbed
Through the wind (they)
(But soon they turned to)

That didn't really click with me, sorry. Don't like vocals like that and the drum sound puts Lars Ulrich to shame :P

Hehe alright. The range and melodies are quite good though imo. Epic stuff.

Have one with Jeff Scott Soto instead :) (1992)

Or with Rob Rock (1991):

That 2nd one is much better both production-wise and vocal-wise (I liked Rob Rock in Avantasia). It's a bit too Heaven & Hell-ish though :P

Haha it certainly is. I guess I prefer Eternal Prisoner of the two (of the three even, perhaps). Very good chorus and vocals. Not that repetitive (less long) and a good instrumental part.

Never heard of Axel Rudi Pell before. Decent stuff but I’m with NP on the drums and vocals. Definitely a Dio influence in that Masquerade Ball track. Good guitar playing.

Eternal Prisoners- love Jeff Scott Soto; the instrument section reminds me of the slow part of Sabbath's Heaven and Hell.

Never heard of ARP. Will look into him.

Thanks!

So JSJ was the singer for ARP for 4 lps in the 90s from the 92-97. They are available on Amazon Digital so I will be checking them out. Apparently ARP was a guitarist for the band Steeler in the 80s. Heard of them. I think a buddy of mine owned their debut vinyl

Yeah I do not know them well at the moment. But some tracks sound catchy and with good vocals.

I think I will might do this chronologically.

Steeler was the first band that Malmsteen played in (in the US) before playing with Alcatrazz & then going solo. Soto ended up doing the vocals on the non-instrumental songs on Malmsteen's debut solo release; I guess they all may have met around '83 & that's the connection.
