NOW PLAYING

Bob Dylan once said about Alice Cooper that he is an underrated songwriter. And it's not just that those words live rent-free in my head regarding Cooper, but there are times when I think to myself that's an underrated category in general, lol. Listening to this one, with all the nostalgia/hatred towards that particular point of time, listening to the lyrics, acknowledging how proper it is for Williams in particular to perform this song... it makes me think Williams and Guy Chambers are underrated songwriters as well.

Not the video, mind you, that one's silly, but the song itself, incorporating Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive (which is depressing to me, for obvious reasons, just listen to the sound of that track), giving vague hints of the clubbing era around the turn of the millennium and all the casual romances and the era of "cool" around that time... and in general, the representation of dating as you get older, this one's more legit than people usually realise, methinks.

I mean, I feel rather obligated to keep trying to get into the oeuvre of a bloke who has Cross of St. Peter tattooed on his forehead :ninja: , but I don't seem to be able to, I can't help it, most of Deicide sucks, this is like the only album that's worth something.

"I hear you’re a Satanist now, Father. How did you get interested in that type of thing? Should we all be Satanists now? What’s the official line the Church is taking? Only, the farm takes up most of the day and at night I just like a cup of tea. I mightn‘t be able to devote myself full time to the old Satanism."
