NOW PLAYING

Superb conceptual album about the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) following an army coup d’état and the brutal repression that followed during the fascist dictatorship.

Is that due to their willingness to experiment?? They’ve been far ahead of the curve in my opinion becoming the sacred cow of UK indie scene.

Dig this: the structure of this song is completely breakthrough.

Also: what is the opinion of people in UK about them? Are they still popular?

Nothing to do with their experimentation (after all I love Rush and Manic Street Preachers); they have never pulled on my heartstrings. That being said, seeing as you have them in such high esteem, I will give their music another chance.

Regarding their popularity, I think it’s been a while since they last toured in the UK, but if they did I imagine they would be headlining massive arenas or even stadiums.

As Manics playing live in the Studio. I recommend this performance of Radiohead playing their whole 'In Rainbows' album in their studio or rehearsal room (I don't know)

I think the safest album to start is OK Computer. Radiohead fans often don’t state this as their favorite just like we do with Number of the Beast or LedZep fans with IV.
And just like the above two, it’s the safest album to start.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will start doing my homework soon. :)

I started to listen Radiohead with Hail to the Thief album, another excellent album. Then I started to listen their whole discography to date. OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief , In Rainbows (5 excellent albums in a row)

Anything from OK Computer fwd (7 albums) is great.

Then it’s really not your cup of tea. First 4 songs I am in awe every single time I listen to this.
Let Down is not bad either but a bit of slow …down after 4 perfect songs.
Then you got a series of good songs in a similar concept -like mood with Karma Police, No Surprises, Lucky, The Tourist being the standout among them.

All in all there are 8~9 songs they are considering to represent that particular era like a time capsule and pave the way for the next, in other word, classics.
