Now Playing (Video Games)

My main game has been Helldivers 2 recently. Really enjoying the co-op gameplay.

Been getting into some of the classics from my childhood too. I missed Final Fantasy 7 as I didn't have a Playstation, so I'm playing through the original before starting the remake.
I have Starfox pre-ordered for my Switch 2, looking forward to Orcarina of Time coming later in the year.

Nice to see these old games getting an update with modern graphics after so long.

Great idea to do it this way around. Makes going through the remake trilogy much more rewarding.

Agreed! Really looking forward to both of those. It's pretty cool to finally get some high budget Nintendo remakes that actually look like modern games. I enjoyed the 3DS versions of both of those games, but getting proper HD remakes with expanded features is even better.

Mighty shinobi,the classic arcade?
Yup, straight up ninjas with katanas and Red Gi lol.

Btw im sure that you all have played but Baldurs gate 3 is a 10/10 in this generation. A good sucessor of the baldurs gate saga
Apparently they are working on remasters of 1 and 2. I'm considering waiting to play all of them. Just like I'm looking forward to the remaster of the first Witcher game. I played 3, looking forward to the new DLC and Witcher 4. I do have Witcher II on deck

Speaking about generations, new consoles and old. I do miss the old cartridge, i have a good colection of them between SMS ( quite a lot) and snes. But this generation i felt like NES. Thousands of games but Some of them boring and really bad. I have one calle gray "something" about aliens that could be ET for atari nowadays. The snes and sms had some games that now are legendary the FF or phantasy star, or wonderboys...many of them.

Rescently I bought my Switch 2 and I just can't put it down. Last time when I've played nindendo console & mario games was around 1998.

I'm done with Mario Kart World and Pokemon Firered, now I'm finishing Mario Wonder.

Just in time for the Star Fox 64 and Ocarina Of Time remakes :D

Depending on what your tastes are you're in for some awesome games. Metroid Dread is phenomenal. Metroid Prime 4 is heavily flawed. Metroid Prime Remastered on the other hand an amazing remake/remaster of one of the highest reviewed games of all time.
Mario Odyssey and the HD versions of the Galaxy titles are awesome as well.
I'm not a big fan of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but those are widely celebrated and beloved.
As for mainline Pokémon, Scarlet and Violet were technical messes, but on Switch 2 most of the issues were ironed out making them top-tier entries for the franchise.
Despite owning Splatoon 2, I haven't played that one, nor the third entry, but those are pretty beloved as well.
The Xenoblade trilogy is another thing worth checking out if you're looking for action JRPGs with an emphasis on exploring.

Thanks! I've bought Luigi Mansion 3 & Tears of the Kingdom but I'm also eyeballing Mario Odyssey.

Yesterday I've finished Mario Wonder - wow, what a fun game to play.

NES had a bunch of bangers. They single handedly revived the video game market after the crash of 83. The Ninja Gaiden trilogy, the Double Dragon trilogy, Castlevania trilogy, Zelda 1 and 2, Excite Bike, Contra and Super C, Metroid, Etc. I went for the Sega Genesis instead of SNES, but between the 8bit and 16bit consoles it truly was a golden era of gaming that wasn't replicated until the Xbox360 in terms of amount and quality of games.

I HATED the 32 and 64bit era of gaming. I found the graphics appalling and the 3D environments disorienting. I basically quit gaming UNTIL the 360. I played Diablo and Starcraft instead lol.

With the current gen what people are seeing is the industry falling apart at the seems. you have more games than ever, but at least in the AAA space many leave a lot to be desired. Ubisoft and Bethesda have become infamous for releasing bloated, incomplete, buggy games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Starfield being the most talked about examples. Even other publishers weren't immune to it like CDPR's disastrous release of Cyberpunk. One of it's directors recently said that they are still trying to rebuild the trust they lost because of that and that the upcomming releases are aimed at that.

On the other hand Games like Alan Wake II feel like I'm living in the future and the indie space has never been better. I think the real problem is pricing. Of both consoles and games. The Steam Machine was just announced and everyone is deriding it for it's price, not realizing that Valve isn't selling them at a loss like the other companies AND that a lot of it has to do with supply chain and RAMapocalypse issues. Can you build a better PC for that price? Sure, but does that mean it's a BAD machine? No. It is still highly custimizeable and compatible with non-Valve peripherals.

The biggest concern I have is the push to ONLY digital games. That scares me. The day Microsoft servers shut down I will lose all my games.

On a lighter note, I am very upset. I soft locked myself at the end of Final Fantasy III. I am EXTREMELY underleveled and it won't let me back out of the final fight the same way FF1 or FF2 did. My last saved file knocks me back like 8 hours worth of play and some key equipment like the Onion Sword and Onion Helmet. Fuck. This. So I have decided to let it be while I cool off and started FF4 LOL.

I also Started Expedition 33. I like it. I'm not over the moon with it like a lot of folks are and I can see why some people don't get it. I'm enjoying it just fine. I see they opted for the "action turn-based" system of Sea of Stars where you still have to hit bottom prompts to maximize your attack and parry or dodge incoming attacks. It is a GORGEOUS game. I just arrived at the Gemstrel village or whatever the hell they're called and I keep dying to the firework throwing mech. Skill issue, I SUCK at the timing here. I either dodge too early or too late. But I'm not getting frustrated, because it's just like Hollow Knight where it's just a matter of time and practice until I get the pattern down enough to win the fight.

Im thinking of starting FF7 the ps5 remake. Never played that one and for most of gamers says its the best one. Im more for the turn based combat of ff1,2,3.

This sounds super frustrating. In a weirdly hilarious way, getting screwed over in the final dungeon is the authentic FF3 experience lol

Have fun with FF4! You can use equipment, like healing staves, to cast weaker versions of spells without any mp cost.

The Gestrals are genuinely hilarious. The competing philosophy grifters selling their books had me actually laughing. And the best one is the dude who randomly starts breakdancing lol

I platinume the game a few months ago and loved it. Try not to get spoiled, I'll wait with more thorough takes until you're further. Also, the OST is brilliant.
