Now Playing (Video Games)

Still decent fun, but compared to the feel of Just Cause 2 this is just sub-par in most areas. Time will tell if I put 100+ hours into this.
I haven’t played JC4 yet, but I can say that JC3 was a pretty polished game that was better than JC2 gameplay wise. It would be worth going back to that one if JC4 doesn’t hold up for you.

Something I haven't checked out but would like to. Some of you might be aware of the Legend Of Zelda type games that came out for the Turbografx 16 called Neutopia, but did you know that one also came out for the Sega Master System? But the most shocking part is the title of the game:
Golden Axe Warrior!

Just finished Darksiders III. It took most of the game, but I did end up enjoying it after all. The load times are criminal, but the rest of the mechanics end up making sense. I got a good enough sense of the character to where I was able to defeat the final boss on my second try. I want to give it another run through already, but I still got Tomb Raider and NHL18 to get through. So I'll let it sit for a bit.

Been replaying a lot of Castle Crashers with my GF's nephew. He's 6 and sucks at every game we've tried lol. I kept thinking... was I this bad when I was 6? I remember being fairly adept by 7 at least. Oh well. He's a riot. I'll be surrounded by like 5 enemies, he has ONE to fend off and starts panicking, "Help me! Help me!" After killing the five enemies I had to deal with, I go help him with his one, he finally starts fighting back, gives him the final blow and then declares, "I killed him! I'm better at this than you are!" LOL sure you are buddy.

Seen a few rumors regarding PS5, mainly its backward compatability with ALL previous PSs. If that's the case talk about an investment for someone like me who has never had a PS. Being able to go through over 20 years of classic games and cult hits? Yes please!

Had a buddy up for the weekend and when we weren't board gaming we've been playing through Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Obviously, Ogre Battle is awesome because everything in the first two games was named after Queen songs, but I believe the Nintendo 64 edition is my favourite of the bunch.

I have now finished both modes of Bloodstained. I know there's a third mode, but I don't know if I can be bothered to unlock it at this time.

Really enjoyed playing these retro-style games recently, anyone been playing anything similar?

Aside from Bloodstained, I played the original Zelda on my Wii with my GF's nephew and took turns. But as for NEW retro-style games, nope. Finished Darksiders III, and probably won't touch a game for a while given we are in midterms and I'll have A LOT of grading to do in the next few weeks lol.

Thomas the Train
Thomas is not a train, he's a tank engine, which is a type of locomotive. There's a big difference. A "train", technically speaking, is what he pulls - coaches, freight trucks, etc. Thomas is not a train himself, but he can be a part of one. Taken as one entity, he is a tank engine, which carries its water in itself instead of in adding tender - which he also doesn't need to carry coal, because he's got a bunker to carry that too. So by calling him a "train", you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

Now how to tie this into video games? I used to play Thomas games as a kid. :P

I'm itching to get back to Darksiders III even though I just finished it. Instead, to take a break from all the papers I had to grade, I went back to SotTR and made quite a bit of progress. Still have mix feelings about the White Savior plot, but it is just fucking awesome lol. Got to a fight on a beach, just Lara and some generic goon. I was thrilled to see how far she has come as a character. From the first time she had to kill someone in the TR2013 reboot to this... She snarls, "don't test me." Proceeds to kick the shit out of the guy and kill him without a second thought. Fuck yeah Lara!

Only complaint, the amount of side missions and bitch quests are ridiculous.

World of Warcraft, Mantigames’ Circus Adventures, Double Dragon, Super Smash Bros Ultimate :D

LOVE Double Dragon, even the often maligned III. II is a classic and I've never been able to beat the original. I get to Willy and his stupid machine gun, but have never been able to make it past that.

Picked up Starlink: Battle for Atlas over the weekend for my Switch, entirely to play as Fox McCloud. I really love the game. The open world fetch quests are fairly mundane, but the gameplay is quite good. I thoroughly enjoy playing the game in the Arwing and blasting bad guys with cool ass laser cannons. I got the digital copy so I don't have any of the toys-to-life stuff (nor do I want it), but I really think it's a fantastic game. I'd love a straight Star Fox game based on this style of play.
