This poll (as well as the other three) has to do with something I thought about earlier today. More about that later, first I'd like to see what you guys vote!

Thanks in advance for your contributions!

This is like asking: would you prefer getting a 10-pound weight dropped on your foot, or a 20-pound weight?

ATSS and title track make FotD win.
Also: NPFTD is a steaming pile of elephant dung, only capable of surpassing Limp-Bizkit-level suckage.

No Prayer for the Dying for me.  It doesn't have any amazing songs, but then it doesn't have the "steaming pile of elephant dung, only capable of surpassing Limp-Bizkit-level suckage"[sup]1[/sup] songs like Chains of Misery or The Apparition.  Pretty much all of its songs are decent or good, except maybe Hooks in You.

No brainer - No Prayer!

Fear of the Dark has a sublime title track and one or two other goodies (Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Be Quick..., From Her to Eternity and perhaps Wasting Love) - but the rest is full of tracks to be skipped.

No Prayer (aside from Hooks in You) is a good consistent album and although it has no real classics (aside from perhaps Tailgunner), it is well worthy of a listen - In my opinion. I actually prefer this album to Somewhere in Time. :D

This one I find the most difficult of these four polls. I really like them equal. I like FOTD because of nostalgic reasons (it was the first album that came out since I was a fan), but No Prayer has a great bunch of songs as well.

Let me look at an earlier post of mine then:

Blue: strong
Black: reasonsable or good enough to appreciate

1. "Tailgunner" – 4:15
2. "Holy Smoke" – 3:49
3. "No Prayer for the Dying" – 4:23
4. "Public Enema Number One" – 4:13
5. "Fates Warning" – 4:12

6. "The Assassin" – 4:35
7. "Run Silent Run Deep" – 4:35

8. "Hooks in You" – 4:08
9. "Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter" – 4:45
10. "Mother Russia" – 5:32

1. "Be Quick or Be Dead" – 3:24
2. "From Here to Eternity" – 3:38
3. "Afraid to Shoot Strangers" – 6:56

4. "Fear Is the Key" – 5:35
5. "Childhood's End" – 4:40
6. "Wasting Love" – 5:50
7. "The Fugitive" – 4:54

8. "Chains of Misery" – 3:37
9. "The Apparition" – 3:54
10. "Judas Be My Guide" – 3:08
11. "Weekend Warrior" – 5:39
12. "Fear of the Dark" – 7:18

Well, it seems I find more strong songs on FOTD, so with pain in my heart I eliminate NPFTD and vote for FOTD.

*sweating*

I did it! ;)

Yeah, but FotH has more songs. You have to count with percents.

I vote FotD. Mainly because Fear of the dark is great live, and then because I think it's better album.

No Prayer wins big time. FOTD has two or three solid songs (and i mean Judas Be My Guide, ATSS and Fear Of The Dark), rest are either just "fun to listen" or weak.

I chose Fear of the Dark.

Don't get me wrong, there ARE bad tracks on Fear of the Dark (I still think The Apparation is their worst track to date), but there are a few tracks that really saves the album. Be Quick or Be Dead, Afraid to sHoot Strangers, Childhood's End, Wasting Love, Judas Be My Guide and Fear of the Dark are all strong tracks.

No Prayer for thee Dying only have the title track and Bring your Daughter...

Fear of the Dark: VERY inconsistence, but contain a few good tracks
No Prayer: Consistent, but very low average material

I had the crazy thought that from the four lineups, making more than one album, the first album could be the most popular among the voters on this forum. Seems I was wrong about two lineups:

Powerslave (2nd) - Piece of Mind (1st): 6-0!
Fear of the Dark (2nd) - No Prayer for the Dying: 5-3

More predictable results:
Brave New World (1st) - Dance of Death (2nd): 5-2
The X-Factor (1st) - Virtual XI (2nd): 5-3

These two are like twin albums in my mind, and due to their covers' colours I think of them as the "blue" albums
I voted for No Prayer, is more solid like an album, despite that FotD has more powerful units (ATSS, FotD)

Blegh. I chose Fear of the Dark, although both are quite mediocre. No Prayer is more mediocre though.

Alright, Foro. I'll work my way through these threads for you. And I'll start with this one.

It's a very tough call between these two albums. Nevertheless, I'll try to see where I get by trying to balance the albums against each other.

No Prayer For The Dying has a number of great songs. These are, in my opinion, Tailgunner, No Prayer For The Dying, Public Enema Number One, Run Silent Run Deep, Bring Your Daughter... ...To The Slaughter and Mother Russia. Then, there are a couple of mediocre songs: Holy Smoke, Fates Warning, The Assassin and Hooks In You. They aren't very good but also not terrible, and I can listen to them without cringing. Fates Warning in particular is quite cool, but it's just not great.
However, none of these songs actually leaps out. Tailgunner and No Prayer come close to that, but not quite. Bring Your Daughter is a great live song, but not one AC/DC couldn't have done. It's a pretty consistent album as a whole, but not at the highest of levels.

Fear Of The Dark on the other hand has some brilliant tracks: Be Quick Or Be Dead, Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Childhood's End, Judas Be My Guide and Fear Of The Dark. Then, it has some pretty good tracks: From Here To Eternity, Wasting Love, The Fugitive and Chains Of Misery Then, it has some terrible tracks: Fear Is The Key, The Apparition and Weekend Warrior (although that is not that terrible, it's just also not that good).

Come to think of it, it's not a tough call at all. The album is spoiled by The Apparition. No Prayer wins, hands down.

Hahaha, thanks!

This also makes the competition more intruiging:
No Prayer For The Dying: 5
Fear Of The Dark: 6

Is that The Ten Commandments?

:)

No Prayer for me. It has got three songs I don't like very much (The Assassin, Hooks In You, Bring Your Daughter ...) whereas FotD has got a load of forgettable songs and some really good ones. When listening to FotD on my computer, not from the CD player, I usually skip about half the tracks.
