No more Derek Riggs?

Because he had prepared a totally different artwork, as he was told the album was called 'The Wicker Man'. After he delivered the original artwork, the CGI city got added. Riggs got really pissed off, also because he felt he'd never been credited appropriately, so he quit.

Riggs didn't make the Wicker Man art, that was Mark Wilkinson (A Bloody brilliant artist I have to say, check out the Marillion album sleeves from the 80's and you can't help but be impressed)

I don't think anyone actually said Riggs did do the cover work for The Wicker Man.

Never said that. The artwork for the Wicker Man single was done by Mark Wilkinson. But Riggsy was told the album would be called "The Wicker Man", so he made a painting that would suit this title. The only thing that remains now is Eddie's face.

I like the actual BNW artwork way better...
Oh, and the actual Wicker Man artwork as well. So noone can blame Maiden for not choosing this stuff here, it's nowhere near Riggsy's old work anyway. He should quit using the computer, he's no good at it

I was thinking the same thing... WTF? that is not album quality work. Well, by Riggs standards haha.

Actually, I think this one is worthy of an album cover.

It was actually planned to be used for the Wicker Man single and was at the origin of the final split between Maiden and Derek Breeg... errr... Benjamin Riggs... hmmm... well, you know who I mean!  :D

This one is definitely worthy of an album or at least a single cover.

It's way better than the crap they used for the actual Futureal cover at least.

You think so? I didn't know that one.  :innocent:

Always happy to be a source of information for you  :innocent:

(what the hell happened to all the smileys?)

I have done a very quick paint job to get an impression of what the cover would have looked like:

I don't like the background.  Riggs isn't good at CG, and he isn't good at over-realism.  Apart from the simplicity of the henge and the sun effect, it's quite a good album cover.  I still prefer the actual BNW cover by far, though.

Oh, and the smilies have been buggered for a while, Shadow.  We'll just have to make do with the defaults until RW gets around to fixing them.

 Could you elaborate on this, as far as I know there's nothing new on the identity of Benjamin Breeg.

Mav...Derek Breeg what?! :P

Well, some people have assumed -- quite wrongly! -- that Benjamin Breeg could be Derek Riggs, simply because the names sounded similar. I merely took the piss once more.  :D

Silly, really.  :innocent:

People seem to have a hard time picking up on your subtle humour, Mav.  Must be an int4rw3b thing. :D

In an age of fast food and other various quickies, subtlety tends to be overlooked quite often, yes.
