Nicko McBrain Live At Guitar Center's Drum-Off

Man I don't get how he does it every night for 2 hours at his age.
<_< At his age? He's only 59.

I don't get why many have this perception that you're completely incapacitated if you're 40 and over. McBrain's not cripple.

...Plus, it helps having decades of practice.

People his age are slowly going into retirement from jobs that don't include banging wood for straight two hours while traveling in a jumbo plane around the world.

On the other hand, he probably doesn't have any stress in his life, there are no mortgages to repay, the paycheck arrives on time, he eats and drinks the finest food, lives in the finest living conditions, wants for nothing. Plus, he only does a Maiden tour a few months a year, and as you said, travels around in a jumbo jet. Not a bad way to get around. The remaining months he is on vacation. So, no wonder that he has more energy than an average working man who works 11 months a year 8 hours a day etc.

P.S. Boy, does he float around with the timing in this video! :D

Only 59  Your not gonna feel like your 20 your whole life. Even he says his joints are starting to tighten up: http://youtu.be/awZotAw3BNU?t=4m29s

What do you expect? He has to follow the guitars' lead instead of setting the pace himself. This would be tough for any drummer.

I've seen that interview before. I understand that certain abilities start to go at a certain point in life, but we're not talking about pro athletes running a triathalon, or military soldiers. We all can see McBrain is an able-bodied man.

...If he's still playing 2 hour shows three nights a week when he's 80, then I'd be quite surprised.

Have you ever played drums for two hours, Groteskfull?

Have you ever had to do it at a mile or more above sea level, when you're a sea-level dweller like Nicko, in front of screaming thousands, with the expectation of perfect performance every single time?

It's amazing Nicko can still do it. It's extremely impressive.
Didja see this one?

Lars: Let's play Run To The Hills!
Nicko: Fuck you, watch this.
