My right ear is deaf

Yesterday, I was at a concert. It was a very loud one, and my right ear seems to have been damaged. While it's become better now, I certainly do notice hearing problems.
What bugs me is that I've visited a number of concerts, and I was exposed to very loud music there (front row at some Heavy Metal concerts, close to front at Deep Purple etc). I've never experienced this before. I expected to hear some sort of beeping in my ears as usual (and I did last night after the concert), but it's now been more than 12 hours, my left ear is fine, but my right ear is close to deaf.
I figured I'd ask you guys here, persuming you've been to many more concerts than me. I stood close to the right speakers at first, but gradually moved back into the middle of the hall.
Maybe it was the loudest concert I've ever been to. I only wonder if this kind of thing pops up more often, and, most important, if it's temporary. I really don't want to have a permanent hearing problem!
 
hey.

my advice to you is to get your ear seen to as quickly as possible. i lost the hearing in my left ear last year due to nerve damage inside the ear, and the damage is permanent.

you've probably not got this if your problem is due to loud music. its probably the ear drum which can be repaired.

but don't take any risks....i can tell you, you don;t wanna be left with only one working ear like me cos its extremely fustrating.

go and see an ear specialist about it!
 
Sometimes severe hearing loss due to loud music can last for a couple of days. It's rare, but it can happen; it happened to me last summer after a particularly loud band practice in my basement. All members of the band had severe tinnitus and hearing loss for about 48 hours. However, our hearing came back 100% after two days.

So if you're still half-deaf on Monday morning, then it's time to see a doctor, but don't panic until then.

Do, however, try to avoid such situations in the future to avoid further damage. As cool as it is to be right up front at a concert, I've found that being about 20 rows back reduces the sound level significantly (by about 20 decibels) and still leaves you close enough to have a great view of the band.
 
Next time wear earplugs when you go to a show.
Seriously dude, as a music lover (which I'm assuming you are) your hearing is too precious to take chances with. Once you lose it, it's gone forever.
 
You need to talk to an ear specialist (kind of a doctor) if your hearing problems won't go away.

And it's called Earplugs. Wear em at loud concerts.
Loosing your hearing cos you won't wear earplugs is stupid.

Good muisc doesn't have to be loud....
I don't like concerts where the music is painful loud - I've been to a lot of concerts where the music was that loud - I wasn't able to hear the lyrics (even some rows in the back)

For me:
I don't want to sacrifice my ears to music (if though, probably only for Maiden [!--emo&^_^--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/happy.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'happy.gif\' /][!--endemo--] ), I want to enjoy it until I'm an old fart and can't hear anymore, 'cause of my age

So check the Doc and wear earplugs next time

I should start wearing ear protection. Doing band practices at gig volumes once a week without ear protection, then listening to music in my room through 110dB speakers isn't a good way to look after your hearing.

I've already had 11 operations on them...

I can't believe it! I have the exact problem! I went to the Iced Earth concert on wednesday and it wasn't that loud (though it was a small venue) and I was like 10 rows back (if rows existed haha). But right after the concert my hearing seemed fine, turned out my right ear was 100% deaf and my left was 100% fine. Well, it's friday, not yet 48 hours, but my hearing has recuperated, it still feels weird but I'm glad no permanent damage was done. I don't go to many concerts (5 total) so i was surprised to have this particular problem. I'm better now and it seems that by tomorrow it will be like it never happened.
 
I don't think that you ever get full function back. Once that damage is there man - it's there. You may not really notice it but it's just that you become habituated to a new threshold in your hearing.

Have you ever been onstage - at any band, not especially Maiden.... it's not loud!

They have just some Monitors who gave them a good sound to play.
But there is a blast going forward to the crowd...
 
Just wanted to tell you that my right ear is perfectly fine again, and it's even better than my left one -as it was before.

Maybe I should consider wearing earplugs when I'm in front row from now on.

Onhell, seeing a doctor about it is probably the right decision. You can never be too careful about your hearing; but I'm glad for you that it's temporary.
