Yes, but in traditional musicals the songs are written for the musical - while the Blues Brothers used old songs.

It's a musical like the Billy Joel musical: the songs already existed, and a story was written around them. Although the Blues Brothers did it well, and I can't imagine Billy Joel being anywhere near as good.

So it's a question of terminology, perhaps - I just define 'musical' more stringently than you do.

Moving out was NOT a musical. It was interpretive dance monkeys dancing to Billy Joel songs kinda sorta telling a story.

Mamma Mia  (Abba's musical), was a musical though, even if the songs already existed the story was worked around them.
