Metallica

Saw this on Friday and Sunday. My mate was working at it so he was able to get me snake pit for both shows. Great experience, hearing "darkness imprisoning me" being screamed by 50 000 fans while standing on pretty much the centre spot of the pitch was a goosebumps moment.

Very wealthy crowd in the snake pit, a guy in a Burberry mac on the Friday night  Dont think there was more than two or 3 other irish in it as no one had a clue what Kirk and Rob were playing when they done Black Rose and Dirty Old Town (to be fair, less reaction than I would have expected in the rest of the stadium too)

I guess, even more so than Maiden, Metallica fans are just Metallica fans. My mate said they were shocked at how small a proportion of the crowd were in for Pantera, and it was even less again for Gojira the second night. Maybe early kick off time and Irish drinking culture played a part too

Sounds like you had a great time!

I cannot wait to see them in London next week. :edmetal:

The Dublin setlists:

Great selection of songs if you ask me!

Their bassist is pretty solid though. Gnat or something?

With the upcoming re-release of ReLoad, I have been listening to Load and ReLoad all weekend. I think they were the beginning of the problem with all Metallica albums that followed. Too long!
I think if Load had cut 2x4, Cure, Poor Twisted Me, and Ronnie, it would’ve been a stronger album. With Reload, methinks Better Than You, Slither, and Prince Charming and/or Attitude should’ve gotten the boot.

I wish we had gotten Leper Messiah and Battery in Chicago two years ago!

From this clip it seems Dirty Old Town went down a storm.

These Rob and Kirk doodles might be silly, but it is great to see them making an effort to offer something relevant to the place where they are playing. Yesterday in Glasgow it was some Nazareth and The Proclaimers.

James playing a Les Paul? Gibson's marketing department will doubtless already be hard at work on a bunch of signature models

Metallica were substantially better than when I last saw them in 2017, when they seemed to be going through the motions. Setlist last night was absolutely brilliant. GhostofCain: say hello if you see me on Sunday (which is less improbable than it seems, I bumped into 2 separate people I know totally randomly yesterday!)

Gojira were impressive and Metallica were outstanding. Why had I waited since 1999 to see them live again??? Oh well, at least this time I only have to wait until tomorrow.
Like I've already mentioned, I've seen Metallica live four times, and every single time they delivered the goods. Sure, their albums nowadays aren't exactly amazing, but as a live act they're still fantastic.

Its true, i saw them in 2022 and didnt like it. But the videos they post seems that they have more speed

Following Iron Maiden’s mediocre sound at the stadium last year (from where I was sitting the guitars sounded like white noise on the first songs of the show), I was also pleasantly surprised with how great Metallica sounded (again from where I was sitting).
