Ktulu seems to be massively underrated. The first section that leads to the heavy riffs is unmatched in metal history imo.

7 votes for Disposable Heroes? Please people.

The Song That Should Not Be (this being the only song here I want to actively vote for), Leper Messiah, Orion.

I would actually vote Puppets too, but wasted vote yada yada.

This is an incredibly tough round. These are probably Metallica's two most popular "classic albums" and every song left is good in many regards. However, I have to vote for something, and my tough choices shall be all of the songs that I give less than 9 or 10/10:

Ktulu - the weakest track remaining from RTL. This one has loads of atmosphere, but is light on variation. Still a great tune, 8/10, but Metallica instrumentals don't do much for me.

Disposable Heroes & Leper Messiah - good songs, but definitely the weakest on MOP. Disposable feels rushed and scattered to me, while Leper is a bit uninspired (other than that post-solo riff - which I believe Dave Mustaine lays claim to).

Orion - stronger riffs than Ktulu, but less atmosphere. Again, great tune, 8/10, but this one could have used lyrics.

I truly don't understand the hate for Thingie. It's a really good, heavy, sludgy song that is incredibly important in the evolution of Metallica. Thingie paved the way for Sad But True and all of Load and ReLoad and...suddenly I understand why you guys don't like it. Meh, I'll hang out in my own corner listening to Thingie and the 90's albums and rock the F out.

Agreed! I'm not saying it sounds like 90s Metallica really, but that it was the first song of theirs to really hit that down tempo, powerful chunk riff type thing that has become a Metallica staple ever since.

Battery + Master of Puppets is one of the greatest 1-2 punches in Metal. Anyone who votes for either songs is insane. Master of Puppets might be overplayed but for good reason. It might be their best song. It also solidified James as a great Metal vocalist imo.

Other than that, I think side two is far superior. Thing is weak and I think Sanitarium is overrated. Disposable Heroes, Leper Messiah, Orion, and Damage Inc are awesome.

Edit: This round is tough, nearly every song is top ten worthy.

Edit 2: Clearly I'm the only one who thinks side 2 is better.

I think side 1 is better, but 13 votes for Damage, Inc. is blasphemous.

I disagree. It's by far the weakest of the remaining songs, being a straightforward boring thrash track. Battery is thrash, too, but it has dynamics, chugga chuggas, and that amazing riff in the middle that the band never plays live for some reason.

Five(!) Puppets songs with 10(!) or more votes! In the first round it appears.

@Forostar well you voted for 5 Master of Puppets songs yourself it seems (and 4 of the ones with 10 or more votes) So unless you're laughing at the album doing bad because you don' like it yourself, I don't see your point :D

Ah. Got ya then. Usually those pictures and stuff are used to like express disbelief and laugh (kindly) at others for their ridiculous votes...so I was a bit confused there after seeing your own votes :p

Eliminated:
The Thing That Should Not Be
Leper Messiah
Orion
Damage Inc.

...And Justice For All joins the game due to a lack of songs.
