To me "I Don't Care" just harkens back to say like early -mid 90's Deth. That straight forward approach is what worked for Megadeth back then - Say exactly what you want to say within say-like three or four minutes - with a harder impact as a result!

The material on the last couple of albums have been too fastidious, too samey, the solos too indulgent and extended parts too long. To hell with the polished 'Deth this is much more like say Sweating Bullets, Angry Again, 99 Ways To Die, Countdown/Youthanasia Deth!!
 
Wasn't as shit as I was expecting, no real edge to the delivery of the vocals, they're like an OAP doing an impression of what Overkill would have came out with 35 years ago, but overall harmless enough i.e. it hasn't put me in mind of ignoring the album when it comes out. Does he say something about MAGA in there?
 
I’m with those who think this second single is on the right path. Yeah, the lyrics are stupid, but I prefer this style of Megadeth over the stalled, many-years-stuck approach. Listening to this song, I was reminded of So Far, So Good… So What! Of course, the new single is more on the sterile side, and Dave is trying to be young again without the high-octane energy outbursts—because he is kind of old now. Nonetheless, to me this second song is on the fun side, which is welcome.
Also, I relistened to the first single — now the song felt better to me. And I definitely agree that Dave is trying to go back in time, at least with the two released singles.
