Maiden's "surprise" for the upcoming tour.

I am excited to be going to an early show on this tour, something like 3rd. We all know that some songs only get played a few times before getting booted for Wrathchild. Then again, I was 4th show last tour and still missed Paschendale...

Point is, Alex (if they do it) is a fave of hardcore fans, and I'm not sure how well it'll play in the US. It might go away like BTATS did last time if it bombs early.

Oh man thank god I'm going to the second show. I'd hate for them to play an awesome song like Killers for only a few gigs, them replace it with a song like Wrathchild because they feel the setlist doesn't "flow" enough.

Bruce said about 2/3 of Maiden England is gonna get played. There are 15 songs to choose from. I guess four or maybe five songs are in danger of being replaced with songs like Fear of the Dark and The Trooper. I think those will be Killers, The Prisoner, Still Life and one or two of the following Heaven Can Wait, Infinite Dreams and Seventh Son..

If they skip Infinite Dreams I'm gonna be pissed. If they should skip any SSOASS song its Evil That Men Do which they play on every fucking tour.
 
I'd love to hear them play Rime of the Ancient Mariner one more time, despite the fact that it looks incredibly unlikely on this tour at any rate seeing as Seventh Son will be the main epic of the set. Bruce, Steve and Dave did all say during SBiT that it was their favourite song to play so it's not completely out of the equation.... (/wishful thinking)

Really? I've seen Maiden twice, once in 2009 and another in 2011 and both times they played Evil That Men Do. The one song from that album I really wanna see is The Clairvoyant. I'm hoping somehow that they play Revelations maybe Children Of The Damned. Ancient Mariner would be badass but doubt they'd do it.
 
I'm guessing they'll bring in Wasted Years & Heaven Can Wait, as both were on Maiden England. If there are any surprises, it will likely be either Caught Somewhere in Time, or Stranger in a Strange Land. The latter is perhaps the most likely surprise from the SiT album because the theme would match perfectly with the 7th Son stage set. Plus, they had it early on in the 1999 reunion tour but dropped it. I highly doubt we'll see Alexander the Great, as 7th Son will almost certainly be the epic of that tour.
 
I got to see them live for the first time in 2010 in Albuquerque. We were early in TFF tour, so we only got El Dorado. It was awesome but I'd kill to hear The Talisman and WTWWB live. So of course I'm hoping at least those two sneak onto the setlist. Other than that I don't have any real preferences. Since 2010 was my first show I would like to hear The Trooper orRun to the Hills maybe. If they threw any 90's stuff in I'd like to hear Sign of the Cross or The Clansman. I'd be really happy with AtG. You know what though, it doesn't matter. This is Iron f-ing Maiden. I'm gonna be ecstatic with whatever they play.
 
Picture this...they finish there normal set...and the audience is expecting an encore so they stay a while...well the encore is taking longer than usual...this will build suspense...then when the audience can't wait any longer they bust into that amazing intro to caught somewhere in time...it would be totally unexpected and fans would lose their shit
 
.... while the remaining 70% of the people would go "What is this song, never heard of it!" :D

Yeah... But Bruce would never be able to do that song today. At least not consistently. Which means they will never do it.

He couldn't do it back then either:


And imagine how tired the band would be of him singing like that... No wonder they thought Blaze Bayley was a good idea. It is easy to listen to the good performances of Bruce today and wonder how the hell Blaze could impress on audition, but the burnt out Bruce of the 80's and early 90's was an entirely different matter.
 
I'm betting the "surprise" was:
The Prisoner or Afraid To Shoot Strangers (which may originally have been Infinite Dreams, according to Nicko.

Which leads me to believe that they just may give us a healthy dose of the album this time around. Lets face the facts, do they REALLY have to play The Trooper, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Fear of the Dark, etc. again this tour when they can use the space for AWESOME songs that they haven't played in almost 25 years? They have shown in the past that they can omit some live staples from their set, so it shouldn't be discounted. And correct me if i'm wrong but isn't SIT the biggest selling album in the USA for Maiden? If not, it must be one of the top 3. So for them to largely overlook the album again would surprise me.

In my opinion it's this tour, or never again. After this tour i'm pretty sure they will concentrate on another album or two, and it is unlikely they will revisit anything else on a large scale. Hence, I feel very strongly that they are going to play some Somewhere on Time material (particularly Alexander).

The Loneliness was played once on the first night in Belgrade.
SIT is not only the best selling in the USA but it is the second best selling world wide with more than 11 million copies sold while SSOASS sits around the 5 million mark (less than half). SSOASS was commercially more successful but SIT was just a more powerful album and the synths were great but seemed overkilled on SSOASS. SIT is my favorite album and I am in the same boat as you but thought back in 2008 (because of the tour name) it would feature much more than the already heard too many times WY and HCW.

This post is far after you made it and obviously, they haven't done anything from SIT that they didn't do on SBIT tour. :( I saw them on the first 2 nights in Charlotte and Atlanta and was blown away that they dropped Infinite Dreams!!! They also dropped Hallowed Be Thy Name for the first time in (I'm almost sure) HISTORY. It saddens me to think they never will revisit SIT and as mentioned on the fan club forums, a guy ran into Rod Smallwood after the Atlanta show to ask about Infinite Dreams and Rod said the band rehearsed it but chose Afraid to shoot strangers instead.... :/ He also said Caught Somewhere in Time would never be played live again because the band thought it sounded like sh*t. :(
