Maiden's Money source

Yeah, I know what you mean.  But from what I can tell, the way Rod has managed the money was quite frugal, and it seems like they tried to avoid doing too much in the way of advances, so that royalty money comes in for the band so they don't end up owing a company anything.  Interesting, anyhow.

I remember AMOLAD as being released by EMI because a more or less big deal was made about it in the EMI store closest to me in Vienna (there was a shop window dedicated entirely to AMOLAD). If AMOLAD wasn't released through EMI, why would EMI publicize it so much?

Not really.
So you don't think that closing the official public forum and turning it into an online club,  for which you have to pay your membership,  isn't money grabbing and shallow to say the least?  And for what?  Photos from concerts,  tour diaries etc....  Yeah,  definitely not a money source. -_-

I seem to remember you benefiting once with a First To The Barrier pass thanks to someone in the IMOC.  :innocent:

Now that we're on the subject, does anyone belong to the official fan club?  I've been thinking of joining next year for the chance at that First to the Barrier pass, plus it's a bonus not having to wait for tickets.  I was fortunate last year that I didn't have to skip lessons to get them.

Yes I do, since one year. I also like all the extra online stuff (diaries and such). What about not waiting for tickets? I bought mine apart from the FC.

I thought that being part of the IMFC means you can buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public?  Or was I grossly mistaken?

You might be right. I think I had my ticket in a very early stage, just before I became a member. So I am a member less than a year.

I believe that they had those for the fan club too,  not just the online club (my point being that the fanclub idea is ok,  the online thing not).  I am grateful for that fttb pass,  but it won't change my view about this.  It still is a rip off.

IMOC is all included for members of the Fan Club, but if you go for IMOC alone (about half the price I think) there are some of the same benefits - FTTB is a great one IMO. Pre-sales is useful sometimes, eg Clive Aid gigs, and then there's the slimmest chance you might get picked for Heaven Can Wait on stage.
I agree it may be harsh to make people pay for the forums, but there's a lot more to the IMOC than just the online stuff.
