Maiden up for Brit Award tonight!

Wow.  I can't believe they actually won.

Still, I'd almost prefer it if they hadn't have won.  I'd have the same feeling if Maiden won a Grammy; it just sort of means they're mainstream/old enough to get recognition.  However, this is sort of different because it was based on votes.

Also, Maiden was too cool to show up for the award because they do what live acts do: tour.

The real story in the Worksop Guardian wasnt Bruce buttwo ducks and a swan found dead in Langold Park. Riveting stuff...
I lived in Worksop for two years, it is a shit hole and I followed Bruce's lead and moved out as quick as I could

I like that quote.

I have to admit, I sat and watched the Brits for the first time in around 10 years and could not even believe they had been nominated. And to find they had even won - good on 'em. If the public vote for it it, must mean they have done something right.

As for the two presenters:

"Iron Maiden? Who'd of thought it!"

Well go see the buggers and find out why!

Apparently Sky News are saying they think the votes were fixed because Maiden won by such a large percentage compared to the other bands....they're half right, the Awards weren't fixed by the company, just far superior fan power on the internet.

Heres the acceptance speech for non-British peoples of the world:

Thanks Ardius!

edit: Just seen it: GREAT acceptance, cool!

I like it how Janick suddenly decides to stick up his thumb and Adrian thinks: "What the hell, enough of this cool posing, I am going to thank those voters as well".

I will send this link to some of my collegues at work!  :D

Pay attention to Nicko, he pokes H just before H gives the thumb up  :D

So, what coverage does this get anywhere? I just saw the evening news on a terrible German station who mentioned the Brit Awards, but unsurprisingly made no mention of Maiden, only how Coldplay didn't win anything. My guess is that most people can't value a real live performance anymore, so that award is shoved to "others".

There was a nice bit on BBC Breakfast News this morning where their entertainment reporter said that not only was he a Maiden fan but he was also on one of the concert videos (Maiden England or Donington 92 presumably) down the front, screaming with his arms held wide.  :yey: That shut the smirking hosts up!

He then went on to spoil it by saying he thought Girls Aloud deserved their award too.

I wouldn't know, I've never seen them with the sound on  :P

Exactly the same here but it wasn't a terrible station. Hmm, maybe it is now.

Still, when I woke up this morning, Maiden was mentioned as one of the winners, in the 07.00 o'clock radio news.

Does anyone have a link to the program, with the introduction and such? I'd like to see the reactions etc.
