Maiden Tour 2014 (NO SPOILER TAGS, ENTER AT OWN RISK)

I liked the Rock Am Ring concert, but that's only my impression or the 2014 gigs look "colder" than the ME previous years?

Awful choice taking out "Afraid" and "Clairvoyant" from the set...

Bruce on stage: This is the last show in Germany apart from Rock IM Park for a few years, he looked quite serious as well

What Bruce says on stage should usually not be taken at face value - he has a habit of exaggerating things. But it is a clear hint they won't be doing any major touring in 2015. I join @THESEVENTHMARINER in hoping that it means we're getting a new album :)

I think this is going to be the last tour with some hint of "history tour". As has been stated by others, this tour stayed less true to its 80s counterpart than the Early Days tour and the SBIT. This is basically SBIT with a couple more songs from Seventh Son. Going at this pace, a 90s history tour would have the same setlist as this one except for four-five 90s songs - Fear of the Dark included. In other words, the history tour concept has become more and more watered out and I simply don't think the band have any desire to do another history tour. Too bad for those who like the 90s albums and wanted such a tour.

But don't forget: Maiden have surprised us before. The 2010 summer tour, with mostly post-2000 songs, springs to mind.

I've just had a thought, are the history tours a way for the band to keep touring without new material, and give them a chance to write a new album. The past two albums have succeeded from a history tour.

Early Days> A Matter of Life and Death>Somewhere In Time>The Final Frontier>Maiden England>?

Just a suggestion. :)

Partly right, but remember they also made DVDs from the Early Days and SBIT tours - the history tours could also stand well on their own and serve as promotion both for these DVDs and for the re-releases of classic videos from the 80s (or in the case of Beast over Hammersmith, brand new releases based on old recordings).

I think it was mentioned earlier that 'Arry has planned Maiden's activities for periods of a few years at a time. The conclusion of this tour might be the ending of one five year plan and the beginning of a new one :p

Downloading a 11GB torrent of yesterday's show, if anyone's interested I'll upload the torrent file :)

My, Bruce is sounding very gravelly, especially on Wasted Years! Hopefully it's just a cold. He sounded fantastic on Revelations though.

Just watched the video on Youtube. That crowd... Oh my. :(
I thought the crowd was great. Why do you have a problem with it?
In regard to the crowd, there's definitely a few (not that this is particularly surprising) non-Maiden fans right at the front; which is amusing when they pan across, as they don't really seem that into it. Crowd in general seems okay though.

I feel as though Bruce may be in a transitional period with his voice as he gets older... he can obviously still hit the soaring high notes, but I think he's struggling with some of the faster-paced lines and big interval jumps. He definitely sounds better in all the videos I've seen this year than any from last year or when I saw the tour in 2012, however. It'll be interesting to hear how he approaches the vocals on the next album.

Ya, I thought the crowd was pretty good for the most part.

I have a feeling that this will truly be the last time they do Aces High because of the fact that he does have some problems with it. It sure was great to see it back for a couple tours though! The Talisman gave him a bit of a challenge as well so if they do have another song like that on the next album, it's hard to say if they'll do it live. You never know though.
