Maiden old or new

Which is the better material old or new

People need to stop this nonsense about the older maiden albums being the better material because quite simply; it is not. Given the choice between owning the last 5 albums since Bruce's 2000 return and the first 5 albums then I would choose the former hands down.
 
Yep, I just think the production is far better, the albums sound more cohesive, the stage sets are bigger, the songs have a crisper more full guitar sound, the riffage is awesome, and Bruce's voice sounds better. Yes a lot of the songs are longer and more complicated but others are not, for example Death Or Glory.
 
Songwriting: Tie between old and new.
Live: New
Production: Nothing touches the SIT and SSOASS albums (the original ones, not remasters).
 
I like both and I'm glad they're always doing something different. I hope they will play some Final Frontier songs live at a show I'm at because its the only album where I haven't heard any songs live at a show which I attended.
 
Both. The argument is silly. I love Maiden, that means old and new.

Though given the choice I'd take Brave New World's production over anything.
 
Don't get me wrong I love the old stuff. I've been listening to them for nearly 25 years and I first got into the early stuff. I just don't like people maintaining the idea that the old stuff is the best material.
 
Around here there's generally appreciation for both. Some prefer early stuff, some prefer more recent. There aren't all that many of the 'play classics' camp.
 
Well.. More great songs on the first seven albums. If I had to pick a top ten I think maybe one or two songs from the past 16 years will be on the list. But my favourite album is AMOLAD. The other four albums are also very good, although a step behind AMOLAD and the best albums from the 80's. When it comes to live performances todays band IMO is a better one. Mainly because of the vocals, but also because they don't rush the songs like they used to.

Anyway. I'll go for old Maiden, because the material is better.

I hate these type of threads simply because opinions are opinions. Everyone's got them and everyone is entitled to them. The OP sounds like he's trying to ram his (or hers) opinion down everyone's throats. Look if people prefer old maiden to new maiden so what! Why should that matter to you. It's not fact that new maiden is better than old maiden like you imply it's just what YOU prefer.

Personally I'm in the camp that loves ALL maiden. They are my favourite band simply because in the 36 years since they released their debut they have, in my opinion, consistently wrote good music. Some albums I like better than others, some songs I like better then others but every album they've ever wrote has a lot of stuff i really enjoy.

I do not know that many who really enjoy a lot from every album. Depending on what we call "a lot" I might join you Wayne!

For the purposes of the debate it's either old or new. If there was a box for both then I would assume everyone would tick it. Therefore the debate would be pointless.
