Maiden Grammy 2011

Thanks Zare! Well good news, let's hope Maiden will take it (outstanding that they've never won before). I see Slayer Megadeth, rather  :(
 
Maiden's obviously much better than any band there, and the song is much better than anything there, so let's hope that the morons decide they win.
 
I wouldn't mind Slayer's song winning, nor Megadeth's if the song was one of the better ones of Endgame, but El Dorado could just as well. As long as it's not Korn.
 
As we see from the table below, Metallica counts 6 wins, Slayer 2. Dominance of US bands. All but one big British bands have made it: Sabbath, Ozzy, Motorhead (covering Metallica) & Priest. Thus a Maiden win would be possible. But it would have been the second in a row for a Brit.
Maiden had two other nominations (FotD, Wicker Man), while Megadeth seven!! Both never made it. Thus I give some more possibilities to Megadeth

Couldn't care less, to be honest.

What i would like, is if Maiden win this, to deny and boycott the award. Because it's the same industry that denied them for last 30 years.
 
The only way yankees can make look like they're better than British bands. Sepultura should have been nominated twice for being one of the first 3 pillars of Death Metal and for inventing the so called 'nu metal' with Roots.
 
The only reason I want them to win this is because it might get people who haven't heard their music to check them out. That's the same reason I wish there was a Maiden Rock Band or Guitar Hero.

That's something I could actually see the band doing, were they to win. Or even better, show up to accept the award, and turn Bruce loose with a rant to end all rants... I'd pay to see that...

Plus you have Megadeth and Slayer there, both are at least generation older than Korn.

At least the Grammys aknowlege metal as a genre by having the "Best Metal Performance" category.  It seems kind of silly to have this, though, not have a "Best Metal Album" category also.  Look at some of the other nitpicky genre album categories that are given awards.  It's kind of a slight to not have one for Metal, in my opinion.  Not surprising though, given the grammys history.  Remember Jethro Tull winning out over Metallica, anyone?

That said, I think it is nice to see Maiden given props for their work in any context.  As for the thought of boycotting, they didn't snub or boycott the Brit award they won for "Best Live Performance"  in 2009, so why would they boycott the Grammys?  They've been complaining for years the American music industry doesn't give them enough credit or exposure.  Now that they are getting some, it would be pretty hypocritical and of them to say "thanks but no thanks".
 
i will only be satisfied with a maiden win!
and yeah its pretty sad how metal is so slightly represented, especially when the likes of eminem is nominated for around 10 awards this time round.
like has been mentioned above roughly, i agree that exposure is good for maiden and may attract fans that in this mainstream pop world dont get chance to hear good music  :lol:...      then the downside, i quite like being part of a minority of my age that like maiden but also want people to love maiden as much as me.                      contradiction or hypocritical nature... YOU DECIDE  ::)
 
I really want Maiden to win this. I don't know why I care so much but I do....Now that I've said that I feel like I need a shower  :(
