Lots of restored pics on Derek Riggs website. Worthwhile checking!

Every picture has a second comment as well. Take this one for example. Click

I am talking about the line on top of the window. The annoying thing is that these are incomplete sentences.
Was this done on purpose or just a strange mistake?

You're talking about "The British goverment never banned this picture [...]"? I don't think they're incomplete, the <title> tag has no length limits, look here.

I think they're meant as an additional comment, a piece of trivia.

I can see the whole thing (I think).  It continues "it was maiden's management. they did it for the publicity".

Using Firefox 3 on Windows 7.  Also works for Safari and Internet Explorer.  Or am I just misunderstanding you and you can see it all?

Wow, he sounds like a serious prick.
At least the art is glorious. I've seen this site several times but I think he updated it at some point.
The powerslave cover is now my wallpaper!

Why? Doesn't Rod also seem like a prick when he tells him to do the Flight 666 cover, which is apparently worth a month's work, but also tells him that they'll only pay him if they decide to use the image. And if not, he would have been busy for a month and not get any money for it.

By the way, the dude can't spell.  Where's SMX when you need him?

I'm not about to correct Derek Riggs. He scares me.

You see, when I first got into Maiden in the mid-80s, the rumor was that Riggs was a convicted murderer, painting those Eddies in his jail cell. He was supposed to be both mean and mentally disturbed, with those Eddies being how he really saw all normal people.

Of course, I know that's false now ... but by force of habit, I'm not even gonna dream of messing with that dude.

I've also had a look at his other work, and I don't like it very much. All the computer generated stuff looks totally random and without any coherence.

Wow. This is amazing. Thanks for the heads up, on the website update. Do you think he'll reissue his book with these new restored paintings? I have a numbered copy of Run for Cover, but I wouldn't be opposed to paying for a second.

Another thing. On the flight of Icarus single he writes: "The Story of Icarus. the old man warns the young son not to fly too close to the sun or the wax that holds his wings together will melt. The young man ignores him and his wings fall apart and he falls to his death. Bruce got the story the wrong way round, he thought it was about rebellion of youth against opressive old people (got issues Bruce?) so the lyrics were fucked up and he had to change them. Just then Led Zepplin broke up. the falling angel was the label for their record company (because it looked a bit like Robert Plant). So I combined them into this, not very sucessful picture. I could have done a much better job with the wings, but for some reason, that day I really didn't want to paint wings. The little box up in the sky is Eddie's padded cell from the album cover (Piece of Mind) from which this is the first single (I think)."

Does anyone know anything more about that? Whether or not it's true, and if anyone has any idea what the original lyrics were?

Also. I completely understand his dislike of Maiden.

just saw the restored Powerslave and Its so amazing!and now the one I have looks like crap
