... that last one, Mostly Harmless really drove me crazy...

So you admit it.

I still think Mostly Harmless is great, even though it's probably the weakest one. The first chapter in particular is one of my favourite pieces of Hitchhiker hilarity. The truly shitty thing is that Adams died before he could write the sixth part he was planning.

OH, yes!  I admit to a little insanity!

And, if there was to be another installment, then maybe it could have redeemed the 5th one.  It def had its moments, I just didn't like the ending at all.

I find them a little <<how should I say this>> corny.

Now, I am a huge D&D fan, but all the novels are corny.  And some are downright bad (see RA Salvatore for examples).  I prefer quality fantasy, I guess.

Terry Pratchett is my current favourite.

I read a novel of his recently... I don't recall the title, but there was an angel and an devil that were waiting for the end of the world.

...or lost notes that someone else could finish the series with....

That I'm not sure of.  I know that there were some off beat notes that went into Salmon of a Doubt, but I don't know about the Hitchhiker series-- I didn't even know he had anything left to write in it.

According to interviews, Adams had pretty much given up on writing The Salmon of Doubt as a Dirk Gently novel, as he felt the ideas would work better in a Hitchhiker context. He also said that he would like to finish the series on a more upbeat note and that he'd probably write a sixth instalment at some point. However, I don't think anybody knows what his ideas were in any great detail, and a lot of Adams projects never materialized anyway. He was brilliant, but hardly prolific.

As opposed to Terry Pratchett. I've been a fan of his for years.

That would make sense.  I can't imagine what it would be like to be inside Adam's mind.  I really enjoyed the Dirk Gently novels, tho Holistic Detective Agency was better (IMO) than Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul.

So, I am thinking my Mac troubles are now more focused in my wireless source, so I may be off to buy something dif for myself....

Going home in 9 minutes!!!  Then studying...

Yeah, based on what you told me, it sure sounds like it.  Or interference - cordless phones, etc.

I thought about that (so did Frontier, the bastards), so I changed the channels a few times on the modem.  I even had them send me a new modem, and it still did it-- however, at my brother's house, it didn't loose connection once over 2-3 days.  So, I was told to try a wireless router and not use the wireless modem from Frontier-- i'm gonna try that before the 'reinstall'.

once I have that fixed, I'll be chat-worthy again!!!!

...off to study and work on my quizzes....

Work and study so far... I got off work about 3 hrs ago, and braved two different walmarts, a target, and went grocery shopping for my youngest's Bday cake (I don't cook much cake). Now I'm getting ready to take two online quizzes, keeping one eye on my son and his girlfriend, and another on my daughters chasing a cat...
