I got a job today, for summebreak! Guess who'll get himself some new guitar gear? I'm thinking of exchanging one of my two guitars and then pay for the difference and get an American Stratocaster (Olympic white).
 
You mean what I'm going to do? I'm gonna do a little of caretaking, mowing lawns and such. Good pay actually, for it just being summerbreak job.  :)
 
I'm so pumped right now we made it to semi finals FINALY first time in my 4 year highschool rugby career plus we beat the fuckers that put us out last year 25-5 WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to much energy cant sit still. Genna have some beers and celebrate. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Not sure what type of tackle you call that, but in Europe and Aus/NZ it's called a spear tackle and quite rightly has been outlawed. I think the law states that if you tackle a player, it is your responsibility to ensure the person you tackle lands safely - and as you can see in that picture, the guy in blue is likely to at best have his shoulder pop out - or worse, have his neck broken. I have no idea why anyone would want to tackle a player in that fashion as it goes against the whole grain of rugby - for sure, expect a few dead legs, untold bruises and a fat lip (rightly so, the game is quite possibly the most physical of all sports), but no player should go into a game and leave crippled. It's almost as bad as deliberately collapsing a scrum.

Two examples I could give of the good and bad in tackling:

The bad. In 2005, Brian O'Driscoll suffered a spear tackle at the hands of both Tana Umaga and Keven Mealamu of the All Blacks. As they threw him to the ground head first, O'Driscoll put out his arm to soften the blow and dislocated his shoulder. He was lucky and rightly so the two tacklers were punished for this.

The good. Again in 2005, England's Matthew Tait got his first taste of 6 nations rugby away to the Welsh. Twice Gavin Henson literally picked him up and drove him back. Two very good tackles that got the Welsh crowd going and all that was hurt was Tait's pride.

This is not to slight your achievement with your team, though. Well done. ;)

Congrats Prisoner! Glad you exacted some revenge and good luck in the Finals. Speaking of tackles; we used to practice a really vicious one in our Marine Corps martial arts program. It involves a hapless victim and two tacklers. The tacklers run at the victim at full speed from opposite directions and spear him as hard as they can, one tackler going high and one going low. Needless to say, it really messes the poor bastard up; also, keep in mind, this isn't done in the realm of sports; it's done as a prelude to a kill. Really cool though....  :)
 
Good morning Wasted! DC is wet and chilly; it hasn't been a very pleasant May so far. However, I don't think we're in any danger of a drought this year though.
 
Its sunny and not too bad here... been not so great til today.  Same here, no fear for a drought.  I have some farmers here that haven't been able to get in the fields and plant.. bet they are chomping at the bit for some of that ethanol priced corn!!!
 
Its kind of funny to listen to farmers sometimes.  There are those that just get by, but more and more, the 'family farm' guys are not hurting that bad.  They go on and on about how the price of everything has gone up but the price of corn/beans/wheat has been pretty stable over the last 30 years.  They always fail to mention that the yeilds have gone up considerably in the last 30 years, so the profit per acre has actually gone up, just not the price per bushel of corn.
