Not sure what type of tackle you call that, but in Europe and Aus/NZ it's called a spear tackle and quite rightly has been outlawed. I think the law states that if you tackle a player, it is your responsibility to ensure the person you tackle lands safely - and as you can see in that picture, the guy in blue is likely to at best have his shoulder pop out - or worse, have his neck broken. I have no idea why anyone would want to tackle a player in that fashion as it goes against the whole grain of rugby - for sure, expect a few dead legs, untold bruises and a fat lip (rightly so, the game is quite possibly the most physical of all sports), but no player should go into a game and leave crippled. It's almost as bad as deliberately collapsing a scrum.Prisoner Of Maiden said:
