That is cool!!

Since I have been home, I've been super lazy-- kids are playing video games, I'm reading a new book.  LAZY!!

Variable Star, Robert Heinlein-Spider Robinson.

Heinlien died 20 years ago, and just a few years ago, his estate was gone through and a semi-complete manuscript was found.  Spider Robinson was a good friend of Heinlien, so they asked him to finish the story.  I am a huge sci-fi fan, and big fan of both authors, so this was a great find!

I love Michael Moorcock stories... I have 4-5 of his novels, and 4 of his omnibus stories.

The Eternal Champion is such a great series to read-- one of the first 'fantasy' series I read was Elric.  I don't think I have read them all, but Hawkmoon, Corum, von Beck.... many great stories there!  Tho, they are kind of 'dark' so I can only read a series or so, then have to switch to something 'lighter'.  ( I use Hitch hikers Guide when I need a good laugh)

Heard of, but never actually heard any works.  Moorcock had something to do with it, but I never really checked into it.  Is it good?

First of all : HAWKWIND IS THE BIGGEST BAND EVER*

yes is good if fuckin excellent mate !!
all 70s albums of Hawkwind are killers but the Lemmy era, is as killer as it gets

* is not my fav. band, but still I recognise them as the biggest ever
the other song of Edgar Broughton Band ? they were friend bands
a lot of interaction with other kind of artists : painters, writers, poets, dancers
and a lot of political engagement too

Very cool!  I wiki'd them -- never knew thats where Lemmy came from!

I did like that tune you sent over the other day, from teh Edgar Broughton Band.  I'll have to check into Hawkwind, then.  Saw that Moorcock was vocalist for them for a little bit, too.  Looks pretty cool, and they have a pretty extensive discography!

Thanks for the tip!  I learn so much on this forum!  There are bands that I've never heard of, and I am finding some really good stuff out there!

and don't forget "Quark Strangeness and Charm" it's the god's Calvert opus

OK, they are officially on my list.

You know, my taste in music has changed a lot from when I first started listening to music.  I started with Van Halen and Sammy Hagar, found Maiden and lived for Heavy Metal, but never listened to much that was not 'current' (as of the mid 80's).  Since that time, I have grown in my appreciation of older-- as you said 'golden age' -- music.  There is lots of music out there that i've never listened to and am finding really good!

my first discoverings outside metal were when I was about 15, so is quite a lot

is a mistake to separate the music.
when *only* metalhead, I was thinking is bad to like dance music or something like that

music is one thing, music industry too

of course at the end is a question of taste

Yeah, I was the same way, that whole bit of only enjoying one type of music, and thinking all others were 'bad'.  I'm glad that I was able to overcome that and find so many other genres of music out there that are great.

shit exist everywhere and everywhere one can find authentic and worth hearing things !!!

I know that my heart will be a rocker, but sometimes I just like to dance electro
or some nice r'n'b ...old swing jazz, salsa Cubana, etc

or for listenning : jazz, old blues, fusion, there are so many things !!

the thing is to can be introduced to new things  ;)

Exactly!  over the last ten years or so, I've taken the time to listen to just about anything... especially since I like girls, girls like to dance, and there's lots of jusic out there to dance to!!

And, like you said, there is lots to just listen to-- 'mood music' sometimes metal just isn't what I'm in the mood for (tho will always be my favorite)
