I didn't know Shatner was displeased with the new Trek movie.
If that is the case, I'll have to skip the movie.
I am loyal to Shatner - he ranks as the #6 Greatest Human Being Ever according to The Most Holy Church Of Adrian Smith.

1. Adrian Smith
2. Lemmy
3. Geddy Lee
4. Frank Zappa
5. Steve Harris
6. William Shatner
7. Ludwig van Beethoven
8. Bootsy Collins
9. Glenn Quagmire
10. Dave Brubeck

I don't know if he is displeased with the movie itself, he's just pissed he's not in it. Which consolidates his hold on the 6 spot on the Greatest Human Being Ever list.

You don't think that they have "Jonas Brothered" Kirk up too much?

No.  I think he looks modern, not pimped out in some way.  The look had to change; it's not the 1960s anymore.  Chris Pine is a clean-cut young man, handsome, with charisma and presence, the exact same as a young Bill Shatner had.  It's in the way he moves and the confidence he speaks with, not in the way he looks or the uniforms they wear.

The way I heard it, Abrams had asked for Shatner to be in it (small role) but was turned down.  I think that the problem was that, since it has 'flashback' bits to it, it was difficult to put Kirk in, due to the fact that he died in Generations.

Tannen: What's your name, dude?
McFly: Uh, Mar- Eastwood. Clint Eastwood.
Tannen: What kind of stupid name is that?

Doc Brown: Who's president in 1985?
Marty: Ronald Reagan.
Doc Brown: The actor??? Who's vice-president then, Jerry Lewis?

I am looking forward to see Gran Torino.

I haven't seen it, but word around here: disappointing.

What I've heard is:
Eastwood is great as usual, but the young teenage actors aren't. Their inexperience is only magnified when they act next to Eastwood.

In an inversion of the Descartes' logic, when trying determine whether I actually think or not, I decided this:

Sum, ergo cogito

I am, therefore I think.

At least I hope so... :S
