Foro, to which are you refering about 'brilliant from start to finish'?
I like them both, and the first side of 2112 is perfect rock to me, but I do think that Moving Pictures, as a whole album, rocks from front to back.

The first side of Moving Pictures is obviously some rocking music. Since that had all the big hits, I enjoyed that side from the start. But it took me a few years to really get into the second side. It's great, but not quite as good as that first side.
Then again, few albums sides are. The first side of Moving Pictures is perhaps one of the most awesome albums sides ever. Forget "no weak songs" - that side has no weak milliseconds.

I meant Moving Pictures. Gotta be my favourite Rush album. To me it's really the only one being great from start to finish. I really like side B as well, especiall Vital Signs which is a very beautiful dynamic track with a strong melancholic end.
I guess it's still in my top 5 of all the albums I own.
My favourite track from 2112 has to be Passage to Bangkok. I also like the title track but not all parts.
The Twilight Zone is quite nice as well, but I am not so fond of the last three songs.
I guess I like many other Rush records better than 2112.

I kind of thought that was what you meant. 2112 was the first 'hard rock' album that I really loved. But, I'd agree that there are Rush albums that I like more. Obviously Moving Pictures. The thing with Rush is that they just make too many good albums!

@ Foro.. I agree. I didn't like Power Windows and Hold Your Fire as much. I did like Roll The Bones and Presto. Dunno about the last two, they weren't quite my thing either.

Which later albums didn't you like, Foro? Rush's sound is always evolving. While they do tend to have some distinct 'eras', I'm not sure where I'd say this current era began. They've been rocking a bit harder on every album since Presto. But that long break when Peart had his family tragedies might have meant the end of an era, and maybe the current era began with Vapor Trails.
Their most underrated albums are Roll The Bones and Counterparts. I love both of those.

From the later (post 80s) albums I like Counterparts best. A solid rock album.
I am not so familiair with Roll the Bones (which was a commercial succes, wasn't it?).
I have heard it a couple of times but somehow I still haven't bought it! I like the first three tracks and especially Dreamline I find excellent. But I still have to play the rest more often.
My favourite album that came out after Moving Pictures has to be Grace Under Pressure and recently I am learning to appreciate Signals, more than ever. This was a grower for me. Still, this album contains my favourite Rush track Subdivisions.

Signals did rock well (I really like that song also!). The album that I seem to like least is is Hold Your Fire.
Hold Your Fire and Power Windows are the 2 that do nothing for me.

I agree with Hold Your Fire apart from 2 or 3 tracks.
What do you guys think about Caress of Steel?
If it would have been worked out better it could have been better, not? I can't specify it but there's something wrong with it this album. I thought it was the mix. It's been a while since I heard it.
