Deano, did you get me email?

Yes I did, I commented on it in some other thread somewhere. I'm falling behind, college currently kicking my ass.... losing cohesion....

___no5, you got a praise as well. This may be your highest total ever!

I hope that didn't just give the mods an idea.....

Yes Wasted, F Thursday.... My 16 page report on Lean Six Sigma is due tonight ... (ref. - college currently kicking my ass) It's done though and its an "A" paper, so there!

Sweet on the 'A' paper!

I remember doing Six Sigma in my Operations Management class... its tough, but was interesting when I was doing it.  I had the advantage of an interesting prof, and he wrote the book on the stuff-- literally, the text we used was written by him, so that was extra cool.

Its Thursday.  Another F-ing Thursday.

I believe that the motto is "F Thursdays".

I like Thursdays... thats quiz-night at the local pub... 65-70 people getting a bit drunk, answering all kinds of questions... highly recommended, FYI...

The Quo? Scooter? What ever will they come up with next?

Out of curiosity, who, outside of the UK (and perhaps some parts of Europe), are familiar with Status Quo (I'm mainly referring to the North Americans here)? Did they make it or achieve no more than just cult status? Or did they pass you guys by?

I just checked out their website, but I don't remember them.  I'll try to find some of their tunes and see if I recognize them.

Status Quo are of legendary status in the UK, but from about 1975 onwards, their songs have consistently been very, very similar. Something even the band joke about themselves. :D

I'm the only one saying its an "A" paper at this point, hopefully ny instructor will agree, don't see why he wouldn't ..... Six Sigma sucks! It may not really suck but I find it boring... it has no real compelling application in the military.

That sounds kick ass AJ, I love those nights in the pub....

I've never heard of them either but I'll check 'em out.

Possibly Status Quo's best effort - Pictures of Matchstick Men.

But be warned in checking out the Quo - yes, they had their moments but they were very, very repetitive. And Spinal Tap were heavily "influenced" by them (as you may guess by that video above). ;)

Its a type of quality control that was originally designed by Motorola.  It has to do with a system that tries to, effectively, reduce output defects (during production) to zero.  Wiki states 3.4 defects per million.. Its been a few years, so I don't remember all the details...

What the hell is Six Sigma?

<<Brings back frightening memories of my first night of this class>>

Wasted pretty much got it; it's a quality control methodology for a business to manage their products or services. Sigma refers to one standard deviation from a statistical mean, with each standard deviation representing a greater number of x falling within acceptable parameters. Six Sigma refers to 3 standard deviations to each side of the mean which equates to roughly 99.4% of a product or service falling into an acceptable range - or no more than 4 defects per a million opportunities.

Fascinating!

Ahhh.  So basically it's what McCain is trying to apply to Sarah Palin's public appearances.

Hey-o!

I read a great editorial the other day where they kept calling her "Sugar Tits Palin".  Now, I don't think that she's a bad choice because she's a chick.  She's a bad choice because she's nuts.

I find her stance on moral issues distasteful; I find her stance on foreign policy issues perplexing; I am still searching for her stance on domestic issues.

BTW, she got schooled by Katie Couric last night.  Schooled.  By.  Couric.
