Yep, I grew up right along the banks of the Mississippi!  (sounds like the intro to a Mark Twain story)

I've been hooked on motorcycle since I was 12 yrs old-- been riding since 13, so I guess thats 22 years of riding now.  :ok:

Mississipi is not any river, but one of THE rivers in this world

In French the term is not even river, rivers are smaller scale waters, for dimensions like this we say : fleuve

just checked in wiki ...IA, its capital : Des Moines, it should be a French colony this one
 
Oh, you are right about the size of the river, I think its only third behind the Nile and the Amazon (maybe?)

I got pretty used to it, I remember being in CO one summer, when I was 16, and they were showing me a river they had and it was like 20 feet across-- hell, I think I could piss across that!!!  Now, my river, when its frozen I can walk across it, and its a good mile across!!  I had to carry my weiner dog back, cause he got tired of walking!

As far as Des Moines, you should hear some people massacre that name!!  I'd say that most people pronunce at least one of the 's' at the end...

Pronunciation-wise, yeah, a lot like that... you get some Des Moines and some Des Moines--- I had a teacher at a college in Missouri that pronounced both of the 'S's... I had to laugh behind my hand...

Yep!  It is still funny to me that some people around here, not that far from the city, can't say it right...

USELESS STATISTICS OF THIS HOLY DAY (H's birthday)

so my dear friends, another day comes to its end, so its about time for a few statistics of today, probably the day the more producive in the history till now

in this day so we had about 518 posts (11.361-11.875) and some 18 pages of total spam
the first post of the day

and the last post is normaly this one

the fist aim of the day was 11.500 -to be increased to 11.600 -to be increased to 11.700-to be increased to 11.800 and to arrive almost to 11.900 by the end

We also had some guest and very succesfull and promising appearances from Forostar,
and a-record-to-be-beaten by Albie of 99 replies while posting .I ate it.

Yeah, from about now till another 4-5 hours, there will be lots of nothing going on... for me, its just now evening time, and I'm ready for hours of madness, but not much to post against... maybe I should open a second account, and I could post back and forth with myself.... :nuts2:? -- or maybe thats brilliant!
