In football if the officials didn't see it then it didn't happen. I'm sure someone could develop some technology which detects if the net is loose and automatically informs the officials.
Yes, probably, they could. But we have video review, and have been using it longer than any other sport, for a very good reason. We want our hockey games to be fair.

Morning, all!

I have still yet to see any Olympics. Who's doing the best, overall?

Ze Germans.

Hockey isn't in quarters, it's in periods. There's three of 'em. It's a Canadian sport, not an American sport. And the more you watch hockey, the better you get at following the puck. Most Canadians learn this skill when they're about three - usually, you follow the players subconsciously and they tell you where the puck is.

Yup, you can usually see from the player's movement who has the puck. Seeing the puck itself is easier when attending the games than when watching on TV, though. (Maybe not in 20 000 seat arenas, but definitely in the smaller arenas we have in Norway).

And that game was a rocker. By far the best game so far in the Games. Currently watching Sweden vs Latvia, which is not nearly as entertaining.

I found myself hoping he would win :D

Adding to how special this is: It is his first Olympic medal in an individual competition (from before he has won silver in the team event with Japan).

Yep, that was 20 years ago. Amazing. He could have become the first non-European winner in this sport... almost. Still great for Poland though.
They also had gold at the 1500m

Poland are doing well now. Stoch has now won both individual events in ski jumping, Justyna Kowalczyk won the 10 km cross-country race and, as you mentioned, Brodka won the 1500m by the smallest margin in these Games - 0,003 seconds! I didn't even know they were counting thousands. When I saw Verweij's time I thought they would share 1st.
