Last concert or not?

I've read predictions elsewhere on this forum that it is believed (although we can't be certain) that "taster" from the new album (Bruce's words) has us guessing that we'll probably only hear one new song.  Would it be conceivable that we would get another tour out of them later on that would use Final Frontier songs more prominently....to do the album justice?  Would they play this summer's tour, give us just one song from the new album and then ride of into the sunset?
26 more days until I'm drinking Guinness and enjoying the concert!

I can't imagine a situation where they would do a summer pre-release tour and not follow it up with a world tour supporting the album the next year.

The only thing that is on my mind though is... is this the only time U.S. is seeing Maiden on this tour?

Obviously it won't be the album tour this summer, since the album doesn't even have a release date yet and the first concert starts in 10 days. So it will be probably a lot of recent songs with most likely a song from the new album.

But when they start actually doing the album tour in 2011, are they going to skip U.S. because they already came here this summer? If that was the case, I'd rather waited another year and seen them on the actual album tour. lol

It'll probably be just like the last two albums: only New York and LA are guaranteed shows. Probably some Canadian cities, and a couple more East Coast US cities.

The last album which Maiden took on the road extensively in the US was Brave New World. Ten years ago.

In all likelihood, new album tours in the US aren't profitable for Maiden away from the east and west coast megalopolises. Most heartland rock fans just want to hear The Trooper and Run To The Hills.

True, though the A Matter of Life and Death was not that much more extensive in Europe, at least not by classic Maiden standards.

I remember reading an interview with Bruce dating to 1986, where he said that in his opinion, there are two types of Maiden fans in the US: The real fans who will travel to see their favourite band and know all their songs by heart. These, according to him, are found mostly at the coasts. And then there is the casual fan found in the heartland and rural areas, who just go to Maiden gigs because a rock band is in town and it's cool to go to a gig. Seems like not much has changed.

Sucks that he feels that way.  I would say I'm a true fan.  I own the albums.  I listen to them often.  I've seen them more than once in concert.  I think the US is different from other countries because it's different, people-wise, from coast to coast.  Shit, I live in Texas and it's so damn big that East Texas is very different from panhandle Texas which are different from central Texas and coastal Texas and The Valley Texas.  It can take 12+ hours to travel across Texas.  Anyway, I hope generalizations don't kill a middle of the US tour.

Ya, that's why they played Chicago and Detroit on their last 2 tours.

As one of those heartland Maiden fans I hope Bruce doesn't actually feel that way. I've tavelled 4 hours one way the last 2 tours and will do so again in July to see the band in Chicago. Although why they don't play Indianapolis anymore is anybody's guess. They without a doubt stole the Ozzfest show here and about 23,000 people were goin crazy for them. Instead of hanging out on the coasts maybe Bruce ought to come to the heartland where there are plenty of Maiden fans who are tired of being ignored by the band

Don't worry, This isn't it for the Final Frontier!  Of course they will be back in the states next year, in support of Final Frontier.  You think they will do this mini tour, then not come back AFTER the release? Lets get serious here.  In 2011, Maiden will be back, doing twice the shows they're doing this summer, bank on it.  I'm expecting at least two shows here in So. Cal.  I'm sure Chicago, Detroit and a couple Southeast shows{Atlanta, Miami} will be thrown in with SF, LA, NY and boston  for sure.

Doubt will remain in the back of my mind until I actually see some fairly spread out US dates for the actual album tour next year.

I remember from the final Florida show on April 2, 2009, where Bruce said they would be back to the US in 2011... whether or not this summer tour was the mentioned 2011 tour and they just decided to push it forward a bit, or if they will actually come to the US again in 2011, I do not know.

But like I said, until I actually see some nicely spread out tour dates next year, I will remain a pessimist and say that this is the only time the middle of the US (ie Chicago, because that's where I am going) will see Iron Maiden for the next few years.
