like in Clansman, I can hear nothing spectacular or original in Passchandale (except the production) to make it better than their more complex and impressive epics. It's my opinion at least.
It took me a long while to actually appreciate Paschendale, but after quite a few listens it began to really grow on me.

As for the diaries, I'll read them but I don't take them seriously enough to gauge the quality of the upcoming release. At the end of the day, I'll be that judge.

I, however, was hooked on Paschendale from listen #1.  I consider it to be a masterpiece, and rather complex, whether others do or not.  The Clansman is also another of my favourite songs.  Is it as complex as, say, Phantom?  Of course not.  Phantom of the Opera is a landmark piece of song writing.  But a song doesn't have to be completely intricate to be superbly amazing.

For me, the Clansman was one of the best songs of the 90's. Live it's fantastic, with the whole crowd chanting "Freedoooooooom", brilliant.
