Hi guys!
I just had a weird idea while taking a nice bath. I was thinking about all that Janick bashing goin on, and about ppl calling him "the new guy", etc...
So I started counting...
Janick joined the band in 1989/1990, when H left, and he never left since then - that makes about 15 years of Maiden madness for Mr. Gers

And Adrian... he joined in 1981 and left again in 1989 - 8 years, then he "took a break" for 10 years. back from 1999 - now, it makes 13 years in total for Mr. Smith in Maiden.

Now isn't it weird? Although Janick has been in the band 2 years longer than H he's considered the new guy - and yeah, I'm quite bored most of the time [!--emo&;)--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wink.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

i think people generally judge him on his playing ability and the amount of albums done.. Adrian did:

6 of the best Maiden albums IMO

Gers did:

No Prayer
Fear of The Dark
X-Factor
Virtual XI

Probably the most controvertial 4 albums Maiden did. And also Janicks style is very different from Adrians, so when he joined it marked a change in the sound. Especially on No Prayer when you had a huge jump down from the 7th Son album.

he's called H cause when brits say "Adrian" it sounds a bit like "Hrian"
so it's simply a short form of his name... that's all there is to it

hm, that was a good calculation Maidenfreak...
I was also wondering about those "Pro Janick Brigade's" on the off. Board - and all those guys bashing Janick as useless on stage and just beeing the clown.

Well dogigniter made a good list about albums/guitarist...

Have you ever thought abut following:
During NPFTD and FOTD Bruce started to think about going his own way....
..and on X-Factor and Virtual XI Steve made the main production...
For me the last two are called "Dark albums" because of the bass-dominated sound.

So that's probably why we have this most controvertial four albums ...

I guess - most of those "bashers" forgot or don't know these facts.

Janick is a fantastic songwriter (as we already should know from BNW and DoD)and guitar player as good as Steve plays his instrument and writes songs.
 
let's just face it some people just don't face the fact that janick is a freakin artist. the way he plays and all. the new guy bull shit is stupid he's just a part of the family we call maiden, i mean it's not like people call a new born after ten years then new guy, no say he's a part of the family. it's the same with gers! Janick made the live shows better to watch, as lets face it u cud replace Adrian with a cardboard cut-out sumtimes......
 
Sometimes, perhaps. Although Adrian seemed to move around a lot more on the RiR video than he did on the LAD vid...maybe Janick is rubbing off?

It depends if you prefer visual entertainment or quality music. Janick's a good composer and a right clown on stage -- which I sometimes like -- but he's a really poor live performer when it comes to music.

That depends on how serious Janick is about his guitar playing. When he's clowning around, sure he screws up the guitar parts sometimes. But most of the time that he's actually concentrating on the guitar, he's just as good as Dave or H. Of course, I'll admit that he clowns around onstage more than he concentrates on the music, but I've always thought he was fun to watch.
 
yeah the time i saw Maiden Davey had a cask up to thigh - brocken leg presumably... Janick is good to watch live... even though i never thought much of his playing i have to admit on DOD he has been doing some good stuff when playing fast ... when he is slows down he is really good 2.am.. wasting love are a few... Adrian back and theres competition even Davey has pulled his weight again

Janick can play perfectly fine live, do u realise how hard it is to play perfectly while jumping around and stuff, u have to be VERY good to be able to do both at once so the odd mistake isnt the end of the world, Dave or Adrian dont always play perfectly anyway. Janick should either take dancing lessons and only clown about on stage OR concentrate on what he's playing. I can imagine that it's not easy to do both and he doesn't quite make it either -- his wiggling and prancing aren't even following the rhythm and he manages to screw up guitar lines that HE composed!

I think Janick is a fantastic guitar playerand he is technicly gifted as Adrian or Dave.....but Janick is too much of a spaz sometimes.He really needs to take it down a notch with the leg lift thing.It's a Metal show not a freakin aerobic workout demo.

On the other hand Adrain and Dave could take it up a notch.But i'm glad Janick stayed when Adrian came back.having 3 guitars makes most of the songs sound richer and fuller live...it also gives them more of an option on what they can play live and what they can't [!--emo&:cussing:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/cussing[1].gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'cussing[1].gif\' /][!--endemo--] Janick bashers!!
 
i think changing my quotes thing was abit OTT cos i dunno what im meant to be paranoid about..and i never knew maiden fans HAD to have perfect english to like Maiden

and just to point out...i wasnt being serious about the janick basher thing, i put the emoticons in 4 effect at the slight hope u wudnt take everything so goddamn seriously.
