What a great concert that was!  I knew I was going to love it, but it was so much better than I thought it would be!  The best part was getting to see my 14 year old son smile the entire time.  Walking out of the concert, he was smiling ear to ear and laughing about how great it was.  Personally, I don't see how it could have beeen better, cause it was exactly what I had hoped for.

was outstanding!!  My fav of the night by far.

Much better than the Live After Death version, definatley worth waiting 18 years to see!  Gave me chills when Bruce sang '....the RRRRAAAAAIIIIIIINNNNNNN!!!!!

I made a wrong turn trying to get onto the road the arena was at, but that worked out great, cause I went to turn around in the parking lot shared by IHOP, Steak and Shake and a bank, and saw Allstate Arena  through the end of the parking lot.  So, we stopped in STeak and Shake for a bit, then walked a block and a half to the concert, then back to Steak and Shake when all was over.  When we went in to get something to eat before hand, the entire place was full of people wearing Maiden shirts, etc.  It was quite the sight!

The trip, for me, was 275 miles one way, and we drove back right after the show ended.  I got home about 4am. 

The entire bit, from the moment I left til I got back home was great! 

Its been mentioned before, and I know its been said that Bruce says things to fire up the crowd, but right before the final 3 songs, he did say that they would be back to Chicago to support the new album that they haven't made yet.

Bruce sounded great, the band looked awesome, the solo's were perfect, the crowd was respectful-- I'm very pleased this morning!

Cool, I'm glad you had a great time, and more importantly, I'm glad that your son did. The whole experience must've blown his mind. I was about that age when I saw maiden for the first time too and it rocked my world.
 
He is a lucky kid!  I took him to see Maiden on AMOLAD, in Oct 06 in Chicago.  Then, he didn't know much of the music, because he had only listened to the older stuff, didn't know the new album too well.  I think the only song on the AMOLAD tour that he knew was FOTD.

This time he knew most of the songs that were played.  His buddy got to see Van Halen play a month or so back, but I think this kicks Van Halen's ass!!!
 
Yes, I agree. At this point Van Halen is starting to make the Rolling Stones look healthy.
 
Hmm, maybe now that is true since Eddie has been in rehab again. But all reports I heard about the first part of the Van Halen tour (before Eddie returned to rehab) was that Van Halen was kicking ass and taking names.

275 miles one way to see Maiden? I did 420 miles each way to see Maiden last month...

Let's make it a topic for discussion (or in other words, a THREADJACK!) ... what's the furthest you've ever traveled to see Maiden?
 
275 is it.  I drove there twice.  Good topic, tho.

I was in line with a guy that drove 475 (so he claimed)-- he was hard core, and fun to listen to.  We were waiting (half an hour) to get shirts, and one dude jumped in front of us.  This guy grabbed him, pointed to where the end of the line was and said to wait like the rest of us did.  It was funny, and 2-3 people around clapped.

Dunno about the VH part.  I like 'em well enough, but not near as much as Maiden.  I know that Eddie is amazing, but, still, not in the top 10 on my list to see live.
 
I am glad that I will not be winning the go as far as possible to see maiden award. If I make a rough estimation it should be around a 150 km.
 
I will be travelling 160 km this summer, but that's for their second gig.  The nearest one is something like 10-20 km. :)

I guess I stand no chance in this competition - the distance to Lerkendal where they will play in July is approximately 3 km. And moreover I am moving in July. To an apartment which is even closer  :D

My first Maiden concert was a bit further away, though. From Trondheim to Bergen is one hour by plane. By car I guess it's about 600 km (about 380 miles), but not the easiest route. I guess it would take more than 8 hours (one can choose to drive through the mountains, giving a quite curvy route, or going along the couast meaning one will need to take no less than 5 ferries  :)

It was just after 8:30.  The tix said that the show starts at 7pm, but Lauren Harris took the stage at exactly 7:30.  She played til 8 (I think) and then it was time for the set up for Maiden.  I know we looked at the time on our phones at 8:27, and Doctor Doctor came on just after that.. so call it 8:40, maybe.
 
I'm going to travel exactly 300 meters to see them. A hard-core fan  :D
 
Bah, you don't even need to go there.  Just open the window and you don't even have to pay for tickets.  ;)
 
Good thing...the side of the stadium where the stage is going to be is facing my balcony. Bad thing? I'm living on the first floor  :(

And btw, i already paid for tickets. Got my six months ago  :D
 
Only six?  I've been waiting already seven months for that blasted concert and it never feels like getting any nearer. :D  Still 33 days!  And 34 for the other one!  Ah well, at least I have a three-day festival full of metal in two weeks; that should ease the wait.
