Judas Priest

Like everything else Priest does, this just feels so ludicrously cheap in comparison to the other bands that have done this type of thing.
  • Maiden releases a beer - posts videos/photos/statements from Bruce where he travels to a well-known brewery, conducts taste tests, pours at a local pub.
  • Metallica releases a beer - giant stories of Lars and Rob traveling to the brewery, hosting dinners and drinking the beer
  • Metallica releases a whiskey - has a perfect backstory involving a master blender who is renowned in the industry and even has a weird gimmick of how they aged it with sound waves.
  • Megadeth releases a beer - pairs with an incredibly prominent French Canadian brewery because of the name and has many stories of Dave traveling there to test it.
Judas Priest releases a rum...
  • Why? They're British and that has no relevance to their brand.
  • No one from the band endorses it, instead Rob gives interviews about sobriety being his saving grave right before announcing the rum.
  • It's made by Brands For Fans - jesus christ.

It kind of sums up how things are done in the Judas Priest camp.

Megadeth missed an opportunity to call their booze brand "Hangover 18". Just saying.

I see Priest are playing Norway next year, altough there is no mention of it on their horrendous website. I might go depending on where Maiden are playing around that time.
Both bands are among the rumoured ones for Hellfest (France). The Priest rumour is stronger though.

Has Zegut been saying anything of interest?
According to Francis Zégut, there would be: System of a Down, Judas Priest, Faith No More, the Foo Fighters, Queen+Adam Lambert and Bon Jovi, on the bill. And Ghost (but you've asked "of interest" so sorry for being off-topic! :D ).

The co-headline rumour circulates for every part of the year at all times.

The funny thing is, there might be a slim chance of them touring together. But it will never, ever be a co-headlining tour. Maiden are far, far bigger than Priest.

I remember a British tv station did a show about the Top 10 British Metal bands, around about 1999 just after Bruce and Adrian came back. The metric they used to differentiate the bands was album sales. Maiden were number 1, I can't remember where Priest are but I think it wasn't even top 5. And that sales gap has only got way bigger in the last 20 years.

EDIT: I had a look on youtube and it seems that documentary was on it but has now been blocked. I found the UFO section, they were number 10, but can't find anything else.

I think in 1996 Maiden had 46 million albums sold worlwide. I remember saw the picture when the band went promoting The Best of the Beast with Eddie (t Xfactor Eddie on the electric chair) on a van trough London. I saw the pic in the fc magazine.
