Iron Maiden video interviews / shows

Huh @TheTalisman I posted all this (or the vids at least) in the song topics (see Killers, Powerslave, Aces High). I guess you must have seen that, or else this is a huge coincidence? :)

It was a coincidence! This might sound weird, but I was actually reading about The Ed Hunter Tour on wikipedia and decided to look for some recordings of this, after finding the Janick diary amoung the sources in the article. I saw your post in the Aces High thread shortly after this. I didn't know that you posted the recordings of Killers and Powerslave as well until now though, lol.

One interesting thing about Futureal from these shows is that Janick continued to play the solo together with Dave, which meant that they didn't have a rhythm guitar during this section.
They didn't do this in 1998.

This show gets a bad reputation because of the theatrics, but musically speaking it is great, especially when they are "in the thick of it" ("2MTM", "AFTS" and "HCW" sequence) and it is the only high quality recording (though not really official) to feature "Transylvania" if I'm not mistaken.

We have a pro shot Transylvania on The Early Days dvd, from Maidens first live video cassette release in the early 80s :)

I guess you mean video recording @Black Bart then there is also this from Milan 1993 ( full show on YT) not exactly "high quality" it's a bit grainy but I'm sure better source material can be found from this gig somewhere. It's still pro shot though. Bruce gives the same speech he does on the Real Dead One album although that one is from Germany.

Yes, I said it was from the original video cassette, but I would consider it high quality compared to bootlegs. I actually think the video footage has aged very well :)

Video blocked here, unfortunately. Tiswas was great back in the day. Wasn't it ever so slightly controversial?

I thought it was more a case of innuendo-laden jokes, although I don't remember any. Probably too young to understand them.

New Nicko Interview from Romania, talking about his opinion of TBOS, touring, and the setlist (spoilers!):

Check this cool footage (warning: lots of silliness!!!). Iron Maiden Interview & studio Tocata Madrid 1983. I love to see this band having fun. Then and now. The crowd goes nuts during that playback show! Fires up the band as well. :) And Nicko can have another practice with Clive's drum patterns!

TV news documentary from 1986 with expose on Iron Maiden, Moshing and Metal fans. With input by Bruce!
Wasted Years Countdown broadcast on UK Cable TV

EDIT:
A.o. stuff Bruce reveals info (and opinion) about the SIT writing/recording. Feels a bit awkward because he didn't have a credit. He says it took him about 4 days to record the vocals.

He's starting to talk like a guy that knows the end is close.
Sad but probably true. Nicko's always struck me as someone who just has to keep on playing, though. I could see them retiring from regular touring and doing one or two-off special shows every so often. Would be a great way to do some of these orchestral/rare tunes ideas of his.

Yeh, not saying now or even in a few years, just saying he's obviously been thinking about it. When he says these things he's obviously thinking: we need to do these sort of things sooner rather than later. If Maiden want to do something special or play songs that weren't played live or play with an orchestra; now (in the next few years) is the time. It's now or never, at least for Nicko...

Cool. This was done in the Netherlands, during the soundcheck from the Arnhem gig for a Dutch drum magazine. I was just about to post it, hehe.
