IRON MAIDEN SURVIVOR #7: Results -> Hallowed Be Thy Name wins for the 6th time!

And disagree re: "absolute mess of words".

The goodness of ATG's verses are the way in which they build up to the chorus - each line builds just a bit of tension until Bruce gives sweet release to the tension with his chorus.

But I suppose Spoken Word and Hip-Hop/Rap isn't for everyone - and I'd presume/assume that those who find ATG to be a "absolute mess of words" probably don't hold the Spoken Word genres in very high regard..

QFF is still an underrated song. A classic like RTTH is already out, it shows again how strong Maiden's entire discography is. I'm glad The Prisoner was promoted.

This time I voted for:

Where Eagles Dare
Die With Your Boots On
To Tame A Land
Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)
Back In The Village

I miss more verses in WED (the drumming saves the instrumental section) and TTAL, although the latter is a unique song. The instrumental is not at Maiden's highest level (maybe if it was 6-7 minutes long) and BITV has no chance with its chorus.
QFF really doesn't deserve to be called names. Same for Gangland and some Killers songs. They're being called fillers but I don't hear how they're on a lower level than their peers. Let alone "the worst Iron Maiden song" when you have actual crap like Charlotte the Harlot and Chains of Misery.

My hot take: QFF has the best instrumental section on the entire POM album.

I agree about QFF. About Gangland, I think it gets mentioned as a filler because the overall material is really strong. For me, Invaders is the filler. And Total Eclipse is not. About Killers, I think the only songs that can be viewed as a fillers are Another Life and Genghis Khan. And yes, the songs are maybe not strong enough for Maiden, but for their peers - they are. Charlotte and Chains have some really cool parts and the latter is not a bad song imo.

The instrumental section is great and vintage Maiden, but for me the best are To Tame A Land and Revelations.
Yeah, there's some interesting instrumental work in TTAL
In ATG too.

Somewhere In Time joins the game!

2 Minutes to Midnight and Still High, Somewhere in Heaven. Madness!
Saw a Stranger and had Deja Vu, he looked like a Runner I once knew..

  • Flight Of Icarus, Still Life, and To Tame A Land as holdovers from previous votes.
  • Caught Somewhere In Time, Heaven Can Wait, The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, and Deja-Vu as the only songs left in the round that are 8/10 or lower.
  • Withholding additional votes at this time because I’m not ready to vote against the very highest rated songs yet.

To Tame a Land
Deja-Vu

The only two songs not worthy of being here at all. And fuck you guys gutting the whole middle of Powerslave already. Some of the best guitar music ever made and it’s already been deleted. Christ.
