Iron Maiden Spotify Statistics

I suppose one could remove extreme values by discounting any song that has play counts greater than, say, one standard deviation above the mean for that album.

I'm about to go to the shops now so don't have the time, but could someone do up a list of the track from each album with least amount of plays? you could then make the assumption that this figure is the amount of times the whole album has been listened to, i.e. presumable no one is skipping to The Unbeliever and ignoring the rest of the album

Are we going to ignore the fact that Afraid To Shoot Strangers has more streams than Rime, Talisman, Lord of the Flies and Infinite Dreams combined?

As an example of how heavy the stats are skewed by playlists and algortihms, does anyone really believe that when a fan wants to listen to FOTD, they have chosen the studio version 142 Million times but any live version only a combined 24 million times?

Yes.
I‘ve never invested any time listening to any of the live albums other than LAD.
however, I will watch some live material.

Not sure what you mean by ignore.
Afraid was one of the more surprising revelations for me.
I took its placing as a product of two things: it’s recent live presence, and the unexpectedly immense popularity of the FOtD album.
And, of course, the fact that it’s a damn good song.

Don't you think that it's surprising at all? I thought it was a shocking detail.

ATSS is often considered one of Maiden’s most underrated songs. To me it seems more like it's quite overrated, if we use Spotify's numbers as a reliable source.

Again, ATSS is no surprise for me, and follows the exact same pattern as Wasting Love - it was among the most frequently downloaded songs on LimeWire in the late 2000's, and I think the same was the case in early and mid-2000s as well, on programs like Napster. It was the 2nd Iron Maiden song I ever heard, after Fear of the Dark.

That's interesting and I guess it explains something. However I'm still amazed that it's way more popular than everyone's favorite songs ROTAM and Infinite Dreams.

Were you listening to that album on shuffle?

No, as I said, I was downloading the most popularly downloaded songs on LimeWire - which at the time were Fear of the Dark, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Wasting Love, The Trooper and Run to the Hills.

Also of importance, Fear of the Dark was the album that brought Maiden into mainstream familiarity in Turkey, and Fear of the Dark and Afraid to Shoot Strangers were immensely popular songs for a heavy metal band here. I was first moved to check Maiden out by reading about these two songs specifically on a popular Turkish social media website in 2008.

I'm thinking, taking away NOTB and BNW as the first two Maiden album I heard, I had a CD burned with random Maiden songs I downloaded from Audiogalaxy, really just the first ones that came up when I typed in "Iron Maiden". I know for sure that Powerslave, Running Free, Prowler, Alexander the Great, The Clansman, Bring Your Daughter... ...to the Slaughter and Two Minutes to Midnight were on it. Probably also The Trooper.

It was the same in the Napster days! After I heard Brave New World, these were all the songs I had the easiest time finding.

AtSS is quite a big deal here in Brazil, at least. Every Maiden cover band has to play it and it was actually the first Maiden song I heard, followed by NotB.

Also one of the first songs I learned with my 8th grade metal band, Fallout. For some reason ATSS was kicking in those early mp3 sharing days.
