Iron Maiden Round Robin [abandoned]

Hey everyone,

Once mckindog has finished his rankings, I wanted to start a thoroughly ambitious project: the idea of voting each Iron Maiden song vs. each others once, establishing a clear win/loss record. This round robin project would require 145 rounds, each containing 72 pairings. Five threads with 17 matchups each would run consecutively. This would be done again in appx. 5 years. I anticipate that the 10,000+ individual song matchups would take around 1/2 to 2/3rds of a year to complete.

As a result, I'm looking for a team to help. I've been constructing Google documents to assist in the creation and running of this project. Anyone who is interested can simply reply to this thread.

I'm not making a long term commitment but I will commit to helping at the start, then review one round at a time.
And you are truly crazy.

Well, the idea is to basically have a team of 5-10 who will take turns posting matches and then updating the results, so one person isn't running 72 matches at once.

I'm with you.

We are trying to make the 'definitive' Iron Maiden songs ranking to find out how much love we reserve to each tune, but, there are non-album songs (both A and B Sides) which are never called up for the battle! People are saying Women In Uniform should be included as it is the first Maiden video and second A Side, but, we are chosing MAIDEN SONGS and we all know that it is a cover originally recorded by australian band Skyhooks, another lame excuse is that loads don't know these songs (no surprise for a forum that elects AMOLAD as one of Maiden best albums), but, leaving Burning Ambition (Harris' first composition), Invasion (part of the seminal The Soundhouse Tapes), Virus, and the fantastic B-Sides from Man On The Edge single is a sacrilege as they are songs capable of beating entire records (such as the weak AMOLAD). If weak songs like The Longest Day, Lord Of Light, Bring Your Daughter...To The Slaughter, The Mercenary, New Frontier and For The Greater Good Of God are in the battle, so, Sheriff Of Huddersfield, Nodding Donley Blues, Pass The Jam & More Tea Vicar can be included, undoubtely 'cos they are, certainly not the best, but very nice tunes. Pass The Jam is an incredible jam, indeed!

So, as we are in the era of access all areas information and media, I'll post links to all these songs most here are said to be unfamiliar or unnaware of to end up this lame excuse. Check it out if you still don't know these songs 'cos you are missing a lot!

He's not. I wouldn't be surprised if at least half of his posts say something negative about AMOLAD somewhere. He's been quite clear about his thoughts on that album.

It doesn't matters! Let's do this round robin with all the tracks (including the ones I posted above). It'll be an amazing game!

I would lean towards doing all the B-sides .. excluding the live songs .. or maybe have a B-side round robin. Every time a Maiden album was about to come out, I would almost look forward to see what they would do for the singles as much as the albums. My main disappointment with TFF was the lack of singles.
