Iron Maiden - piano covers

A bit wrong? It's so wrong it's hard to determine whether he has just got it wrong or does it on purpose. He throws in an extra beat so it nearly becomes 5/4 instead of 4/4.

It does go to 5/4! I've seen better piano versions for Maiden songs. Try that chick playing Nomad in the right side of the screen.

And apperantly he's Israeli.

He also fucks up the chord change at 4:27, and by skipping the entire solo section (including the medium-fast section immediately before the solo) the entire cover becomes quite ordinary in my ears - too ordinary for me to forgive the errors.

Errors are forgiven if one is a complete beginner, if one tries some challenging things or takes a creative approach to the song. For a straight-forward cover of a relatively easy song, nothing to write home about. I bet there are people on this board who could do the same, effortlessly (I have played the song on keyboards myself a few times, and it's really not difficult).

Yeah, that chick is pretty insane. She even does pretty good versions of the solos in her covers.

When it comes to solos, I'd say the best approach if you can't play it note for note is to make your own solo, to your own level of playing.

For example, I'm fully capable of playing Janick's FOTD solo on piano, but Davey's I have to replace with an improvised one.

Heh.  BTW, you can download high quality MP3s from http://vkgoeswild.com (including FOTD, DOD, and SOTC).  I donated 5 Euros and requested a few more Maiden tunes.  If enough of us do that, maybe she'll record/post more of them.

Mine too (I picked up that CD several years back, before piano tributes were as common).  NOTB and The Trooper are also quite good.

Haven't heard number of the beast but I have heard the Trooper and it was quite good. Everyone does that on piano though.

I had assumed that some of her covers were done based on interest and suggestions, while others were from requests via individual donations.  However, it may be the case that songs she does now are only from the latter since I received a friendly response from Vika saying that it's 60 euro for a request (she misunderstood my 5 euro donation as being for a new song when I had intended it simply as a thank you for making all those MP3s available).

Anyway, I'd kick in 5 Euro for WTWWB, FTGGOG, or SSOASS.  But I'd have to find 11 other people willing to put up for one of those songs.  Doesn't seem likely.
