Iron Maiden: In the Studio book coming out

Could be a very interesting read if the author hasn't been afraid to step on Steve's toes.

Noob here, I would love to read up on this little bomb, can you direct me to right thread and or commentary?

Blood Brothers
Dream Of Mirrors
Nomad
And I don't remember the other. This is by memory. Something tells me Thin Line was too but I don't remember. Maybe someone else can say. I don't have time to research though, sorry.

No. That's wrong - The Mercenary, Dream Of Mirrors, The Nomad and much probably, The Thin Line Between Love & Hate. Blood Brothers was written by Steve in 1999/2000, as Steve's father passing served as inspiration. He died in 1999.

I thought Educated Fool was about
that too. That was 1998 wasn't it?

The Educated Fool is more about getting to an age where you perceive you have so much ideas, so much potential and you still are waiting for the big moment to come. The line "I want to meet my father beyond" refers to his meeting with the maker, the creator, not his biological father.

Oh. I always thought that song was about Steve's father. Shows what Wikipedia knows.

Perhaps the most telling track on the album, though, was 'The Educated Fool', another of Steve's
solo efforts, this one about "getting older, realising there's other things going on." He stares off
into space. "There's a reference to my father in there as well - T want to meet my father
beyond...' It's about growing older and everyone expecting you to be wiser but how somehow the
older you get and the more you know, the less you have the answers for any of it.
"It's like I've always been the one that took the band by the reins andpushed it in the direction I
thought it should be going. I took the responsibility for that, and after a while the band just got
used to me dealing with everything and expected me to do it. And I ain't complaining - I want to
have that responsibility - but that doesn't mean it's always easy or that I think I'm always right.
And, like, I've got three younger sisters and they all tend to look up to me more and more,
especially since my dad died. And, of course, now I've got four kids of my own, too, so, though
you shouldn't look at it like that, sometimes it is a pressure, because deep inside you know that
you're only guessing half the time."

That's from the official biography. His father died before 1998, and that verse means that he wants to see him again in afterlife. Besides, that whole part of lyrics tells us what the character in story wants to do, eg Steve, who was somewhat questioning his leadership abilities since 1993, when he didn't know what to do after Bruce announced his leaving. Dave was the one that said, fuck it let's find a new singer.

Dave always was an optimistic and practical spirit in the band. I'll never forget his remark (when Bruce left):

"This is the end of the chapter, not the book" .

I thought it was Nicko. He seemed very happy to get a new singer when Bruce left.

Funny that I got the biography, but can't remember this part. My bad. Sorry.

I think it mentions that in the commentary too. I'll have to look later.
