Perhaps the most telling track on the album, though, was 'The Educated Fool', another of Steve's
solo efforts, this one about "getting older, realising there's other things going on." He stares off
into space. "There's a reference to my father in there as well - T want to meet my father
beyond...' It's about growing older and everyone expecting you to be wiser but how somehow the
older you get and the more you know, the less you have the answers for any of it.
"It's like I've always been the one that took the band by the reins andpushed it in the direction I
thought it should be going. I took the responsibility for that, and after a while the band just got
used to me dealing with everything and expected me to do it. And I ain't complaining - I want to
have that responsibility - but that doesn't mean it's always easy or that I think I'm always right.
And, like, I've got three younger sisters and they all tend to look up to me more and more,
especially since my dad died. And, of course, now I've got four kids of my own, too, so, though
you shouldn't look at it like that, sometimes it is a pressure, because deep inside you know that
you're only guessing half the time."
