Ive done a work about Iron Maiden in school and now i am going to tell the other in my class about them. Our teacher told us to have all the senses represented under the talk and take that with us . can you help me with the senses? i already have vision and hearing so the only things i need now is feeling, taste and smell that associates with Iron Maiden. what can that be?

please help me

Jalu

I guess you could describe the smell of a packed out concert hall when the band is in full flow (as long as the the air-con is not used ;)). You could also describe the feelings you get when you listen to your favourite Maiden tracks, perhaps - or indeed the felling you have just before they come onstage and also during.

Perhaps a few pointers there - I'll leave taste to some other imaginative soul (do they do Eddie chocolate bars?).

I need to take all the things with me so i don't think that beer is such good idea. Feelings was wrong word from me. i mean something to take on like a poster or something(that i dont have)...

need more answers

If you are going to take in a CD, use the CD booklet as a smell - although this smell will not be unique to Maiden.

Smell: Roses
Taste: Nectar and Ambrosia
Touch: Silk

That should be about the closest thing to describe it. :P

Indeed, if we are talking about how Maiden's music makes you feel, there can be many answers like this. For example, to me it would be something like gun powder, dark chocolate and soil.
Interesting thread, but young man, did you try and answer for yourself? ;)

Take one of their covers and have a good look at it, and I think you'll automatically start associating tactile impressions with it, which are invoked by the environment depicted on it. So, don't take "X" or "XI", but try with "Life After Death" or "Powerslave" or some of the old albums where Eddie's roaming the gritty streets of London. You can do this with some of the lyrics too.

Personally, I quite like XI.  While not as detailed as Somewhere in Time, majestic as Seventh Son or Powerslave, or out-and-out creepy/fucking cool (delete as appropriate) as Live After Death/Piece of Mind, the blending of the apocalyptic vision/normal day scene work quite well.  It's not amazingly executed, but it's a very good idea.

Perhaps the idea is fine, but the execution isn't. I think XI is ugly, to be blunt.

I remember I did a work about Maiden for english class... I brought with me all the albums... and I used "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" lyrics as example of their writing...

I do not know if this might actually help you... the teacher was not very confortable with the artwork thought

but he liked Samuel Taylor Coleridge work...and a couple of friends of mine were also into Maiden, and they supported the presentation...thus it worked really well

there is no way of not winning with Maiden!!!

Heh, on a totally irrelevant note, I remember once when I was a kid in school, my teacher was starting to get worried because I always wore Iron Maiden T-shirts. Being a total rock-ignorant, whe didn't even know what Iron Maiden was. When she asked me "Why are you always wearing those horrible images of monsters on your clothes?", I couldn't help but to laugh at her. I don't even think she understood when I told her that it was just in support of my favorite rock band. I remember the Purgatory and Number of the Beast artwork particularly freaked her out.

Anyway, back to business....

I remember my presenation on Iron Maiden I did...
It was basically a history of the band effort
Showing the video of Holy Smoke - if the class you are reading to dislike the whole heavy metal scene. I suggest showing this - I know you already got sight and sound - but you can use it to show (In H's words) that Iron Maiden arnt the blood sucking devil worshipers they are made out to be...

well thats not really H's words - but its inspired by them ¬_¬
