Yup, I've thought about this aspect of the game a lot actually. I think it's an assumption that should work positively for the game. If A > B and B > C, I won't run A vs. C anymore because the transitivity should dictate that A > C. It's not an unassailable rule/assumption, but it should work for the most part.
