Iron Maiden - artworks with Eddie

Speaking of FOTD sketches, Derek Riggs created 20 original ideas for this album! (the info is from here)

Maiden's ideas were Eddie to be a werewolf or a vampire. Apparently, Derek made Eddie as a werewolf (I wish we could see it).

And we know his final sketch for this album...

''In the end I did one sketch of Eddie, it was a design for Eddie leaning over the foot of the bed, leaning over the foot of the bed, leaning toward you. You could see the feet of the person, and you can see the end of the bed, and you can see his handswere clutching the sheets, and Eddie was leaningover the foot of the bed, and in the darkness around him were all these sort of monsters coming out of the dark''.

Btw, we have a Werewolf character in LOTB game:

Second from the right and second from the left - WOW. They possibly could've reworked the left one for The Wicker Man, the right one is way too badass to have been forgotten about, it's like Eddie meets Hellraiser.
The Wicker Man Eddie we got fits better (and is better), but the second from the left is a nice variation. The second from the right is too brutal (it could have been used for TFF or some additional artworks for TXF with its dark vibe).

The first from the left would make a good ''From Here To Eternity'' single cover.
The third from the left (with the cloak) would have been a nice vampire Eddie in a castle.
The fourth & fifth from left would have been great for a ''Be Quick Or Be Dead'' or even ''Wasting Love'' single covers.

Rod about NPFTD album cover (the info is from here):

''We got a bit short of inspiration – No Prayer For The Dying was by no stretch one of our best albums and the artwork wasn't up to our previous standards. Between us we all couldn't get a good idea together so at the last minute we just had to decide and went with a very basic idea. Derek's Eddie was one of the best he did but the guy by the grave didn't do it for me which is why we changed it later. We felt it was time for a bit of a change but were reluctant to leave the tried, trusted and valued but I think Derek was a bit bored of Eddie by then, or more likely bored with us!''

So, all went wrong from the begining. So so album, uninspired album cover. They clearly were burnt out.

By that logic, I'd include the Ed-hunter Eddie to Virtual XI category as it's actually featured in the booklet and was used as a walk-on Eddie on Virtual XI tour and on a handful of following tours as well, including Ed-hunter tour and Brave New World tour (shirtless version, oh my!) :)

TXF album cover from the backdrop of ''Man On The Edge'' live in 1995.

The quality is not good, but it's a drawing like every other Maiden album cover (not a realistic photo like the original cover). I think this would have been the better option. If only someone could make the original like that...
