Iron Maiden 8-Track Tapes - I Want to Know!

I remember that they always had the cassette track list the same as vinyl, but there would sometimes be huge gaps at the end of the second side of the tape, and when waiting for the auto-reverse function, it drove me nuts!
Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits was a prime example of this. I used to work in a bar that had a four deck cassette payer that had an auto reverse. Get a busy few hours and when no bugger has the time to switch the tape over, a deathly silence ensues.

I have seen 8-tracks for Iron Maiden, Killers, Number Of The Beast and I believe that Piece of Mind was also released on 8-track.

I don't know if they were regularly available, as the person I know who had them got them through Columbia House (a US american mailorder company that's been around for years).

Very cool photo of that Killers 8 track! I grew up in that era and actually was given a small bookshelf type 8 track stereo system!
By this time (about '79) 8 track was on its way out so I didn't get to collect too many 8 tracks.. I had KISS Destroyer and a compilation from "K-TEL" (anyone remember these?) called "Rock 80" which had tunes from the Cars and Blondie etc.. ( I was 12 at the time )
..but I grew up with my older brother cranking his 8 tracks and it got to where you knew where in the album you could "click to" , there was a "program" button on these players that let you jump from program to program and after a while you knew where you had to be to "jump" to the song you wanted! Fun times!!:) And believe me, many of the 'bad-ass" car stereo set-ups of the day had the 8 track as its core.. souped up trans ams and dodge chargers and even vw bugs with fur trimmed dashboards and 8 track players cranking!!

Hell yes I remember 8 tracks! Always hated how it would fade out in the middle of a song and the CLICLK!!! a slow fade back into the song. My car had an 8 track player in it and I actually had an 8 track adapter that allowed me to play cassettes. Oh those were the days

I used to own several 8 tracks, but no Maiden ones. They were far superior in sound to cassettes, but had the disadvantage of being much larger and you could not rewind them (just fast forward) .. and as a previous poster mentioned, no record feature.
